For about $150USD, you got a big, one-bedroom, two-bathroom suite with full amenities. The desk guy was a dud, but had little impact on our stay. I'd go here versus the Finistirre Suites 100 times out of a 100.

Stayed there for a week. You can get a suite for about $150 which is a good price in Panama for this quality. The hotel is new. The maid service is spotty. They forget to change the towels or refresh the mini bar and you need to ask. The restaurant for dinner is very good and recommended. The breakfast buffet is very basic. The location is very good. You can easily walk to casinos, bars, restaurants and the business district. Internet connection is ok.
Be careful! They charge your credit card with not authorized amount!!! the owner of the hotel is from columbia and they are trying to cheat you whole the time! also you have to be careful with leaving your personal things in the room! the pool area is very dirty and the don´t clean up the chairs. it´s all not worth to go there! take another hotel! if you have questions, please send me mail.
We stayed at the Esplendor Hotel for a week in November 2011, and must say that this hotel is hard to beat in terms of value and ammenities. First thing to consider is that for the same rate of a standard hotel, at the Esplendor you will get a suite with full living room with TV, dining table and kitchen, and an additional restroom for visitors and separate bedroom with TV, so the rooms are more like flats than a standard hotel room. In extended stays, you really appreciate the extra space besides the bedroom, and lets you save on meals since you can cook your own.
The hotel is very well located, in the hard of the business district, close to the Marriott Hotel and the Via España and Calle 50, and just a few blocks from the Cinta Costera on the oceanfront. Close is also the main shopping center, Multiplaza, as well as famouse Uruguay street where most of the Restaurants and Bars are located (is the center of Panama City's nightlife).
The decor of the rooms is very trendy, wooden floors, nice travertino on the bathrooms, modern kitchen cabinetry, huge windows that allow to see the whole city from the bedroom, living and kitchen. There is also a desk where you can work on your laptop at the entrance of the living room.
There is central air conditioning, and so there is not much noise from the AC which can sometimes be an issue.
The kitchen is equipped with a two burner electric cooktop, a fridge with freezer, coffee maker and a sink. However, there are is no kitchenware supplied, but you can request it to reception, although it is quite limited. We were offered a frying pan and an old beaten pot; however, that did the cut for us well enough to prepare our meals in the room to save some money and to eat what wa wanted. Good we bought a kitchen knife at the supermarket. We did our shopping at Multiplaza's supermarket, and then took a taxi cab back to the hotel and we were up in business in our kitchen. The fridge is normally stocked by the hotel with beer, soft drinks, snacks, etc, and they replenish it everyday should you take something from the stock.
The hotel offers breakfast at their facilities by the pool; nice buffet with eggs, bacon, bread, fritters, fruits, juices, and customized omelettes also. No complains here.
Also on the pool level you will find a small gym, with some threadmills and a multigym machine. Spa services are also offered. The pool is nicely set, although it does not work as a lap pool since it has a very shallo half.
They are about to open their full service restaurant, but is not open yet, so no lunch or dinner is currently served. It is advertised to open October 2011, but we are in November and still on the works. We hope to see it open this week maybe?
If I had to complain about something, it would be the visitor's toilet which makes a water hammer noise when it is flushed (some bad plumbing support maybe in the drywall) and also the noise of the shower mixer valve, which makes a lot of noise when it runs water (I will not purchase this brand of faucet ever, made a note about it); but that's just me because I'm an Engineer and pick on these little details.
The hotel is been open for a year now, and looks good and feels new.
No complains about the internet; there is a wifi access point on the desk, and me and my wife worked simultaneosly on our laptops with no issue or bandwidth problems.
All in all, I can't give this hotel a 5 star rating only because the suites have great kitchens but no kitchenware, so you have to McGiver it to cook; but I guess they want to pursuade you to take from the minibar items rather than to go full Chopped. Tip: If you cook here, you can open the kitchen side window to vent.
I can't give this hotel above a three star rating, and I tend to be generous with my reviews. I think this hotel has lots going on for it- but honestly, you can see all of that loud and clear in the pictures. The downsides become obvious once you get there. The service is sometimes downright nonexistent. I stayed for a week for work in October. I had particularly bad breakfast experiences- just nutty and awkward. I called down and asked for many things which never came- ice (for an injury), glasses, robes, hairdryer to be fixed, the list goes on. I had several very good experiences with the front desk- it is certainly not all bad here. But, it's not great either.
Internet was very bad; and yes, the water really is that spotty! Sometimes freezing; sometimes burning.
Another thing- the construction is fairly shoddy- it's already showing signs of significant wear and tear. That probably bothers some more than others.
If you get a great deal, you can certainly have a great time here. But just don't expect too much out of the service and the little extras.
