“Good value for a layover or single night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

We stayed in this hotel for one night. We arrive at the Managua airport around 9pm and all we really needed in a hotel was a hot shower and a comfortable bed. This hotel had both of those so we were very pleased. The breakfast was also really good with very attentive staff serving.

We didn't spend any more time in the hotel so I can't comment on their other services but we did notice that the location was not that tourist friendly. It didn't appear as if you should be walking around especially at night. Anyway, the front desk staff were very helpful and the room was moderately prices. It was a great launching pad for our Nicaragua adventures.

“Awesome Staff”

A seaoned traveller here a bit disorgaized before my trip to Nicaragua. E-mailed the hotel prior to my arrival for the usual " is it safe do you have hot water etc" and can you pick me up at the airport to my suprise got an email back in 20 minutes with all my questioned answered and low and behold I booked it. They didn't ask for a credit card etc just my flight number and date of arrival. Picked up at the airport in a car and brought to the hotel the staff was great at check in. The next day I thought I should have some local currency and went on the hunt for a bank to cash a travellers check American express what a mistake |I was turned away by two banks so went to the hotel and asked where I could cash them well in two seconds I was in the hotel car and brought to a bank and the driver came in with me and helped me out it was still an hour process but come on do we get service like that in the Sates or Canada for 60.00 per night. Anita at the front desk and David that brought me to the bank are steller would have them work for me in a minute. \if you expecting the four seasons stay at home but if you looking for nice people clean rooms and a relaxed hotel come and stay here. Will be coming back next week.

“Wonderful experience for the whole family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2008

The Mansion Teodolinda was a wonderful experience for our family. It was so great the first time that we booked it again at the end of our trip. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Their English was excellent. They went above and beyond to help us, even hunting us down for a phone call and making calls for us. Both rooms were very clean, spacious, secure, and temperature controlled. The pool was clean, secure, and open 24 hours (my kids highly recommend the pool). The restaurant was yummy, clean, and had excellent service. The manager of the restaurant went out of his way to make sure our children were happy with their food. Breakfast was included with the room and we had a choice of Nicaraguan breakfast (gallo pinto, cheese, eggs, natural fruit juice, tortillas, and crema) or American breakfast (bacon, eggs, toast, fruit juice). The kids had a big bowl of fresh fruit and a yogurt every morning. There is a business center in the lobby with free internet access, printing capabilities, and a fax machine. We had an excellent experience and one we would repeat again.

  • Liked — The great service from all staff and the cleanliness.
  • Disliked — Location was not as central as we would have liked, but worth the travel in the end.

“depressing”

This hotel is not what the website says. although it is very clean, the place is a notch up from a motel. the rooms are smelly, guess the moldy humid air is contained, since the AC unit is not turned on until you arrive.
the lobby is ok. check in was fast however they do ask for your passport number to make a copy of it??? that got me a bit nervous.
anyways, you walk out thru a hall and then out to a patio, that resembles more of an extended house with terrazo floors off to a terrace where the pool is ( a bit noisy at night).
the rooms again, very clean...they just need to smell better , a new bedspread is desperately needed....uuuuhhhh, the one they have has seen better days...not to mention the towels...old, thin, grayish, and rough. toiletries consist of a small horrible cheap soap and i guess a shampoo. no conditioner.
this is by no means a corporate hotel!!!
to sum it ...find something better. one night here and you will leave feeling depressed...
paid $85 + tax ...felt like a 50 or less

“Jewel in Managua for the traveler”

We found this little (44 rooms) hotell-from the Lonely Planet guide- Mansion Teodlolinda and were given great treatment when we went to their front desk. (after staying at a miserable hotel with a bad attitude nearby),

It had nice rooms and bathroom, fridge/microwave, working A/C, pool,, restaurant (with room service if needed), helpful staff, professional management, and good location. The price was definitely reasonable 65-75USD for its class..

They are in the process of adding another 40 rooms and improving the existing facilities. The place is a gem.
