“Pretty good”

Spent 3 nights at the Seminole Plaza.

Decent hotel, few drawbacks, plenty of positives.

Location is good, with lots of resturants within two ro three blocks, a shopping mall 5 minutes walk away, pretty well located to reach most other parts of town.

Room was on the large size, with an excellent bed. Only grouch here is that the round glass table with an easy chair is not great for working.

Quiet at night: hardly a sound entered my room.

Free wireless, pretty fast connection.

Very good breakfast: full range of foods, well prepared. Top class.

Staff efficient and friendly.

“A really nice place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

I stayed at the Seminole Plaza Hotel from July 1 to 5th, 2010. It was an absolutely great place to stay. The room was great, the buffet breakfast was superb: from many different kind of fresh fruits, natural fruit juices, eggs, gallo pinto (mix of rice and beans) nacatamales, different types of breads, coffee, tea, different kinds of yogurts and cereals, etc. When I read some of negative reviews posted in this website, I was very nervous, but when I got there, I was very, very happy. The room was very clean, comfortable bed, nice linens, big towels, great tv and a very good working air conditioning. The maid change the bed sheets every day, and did a great cleaning job every single day. Room service was great, and the food was great also. Only complain....coffee should be stronger! As a solo traveler, a felt extremely safe in this hotel!! I had a great stay!

“Great location at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

The reviews of the Seminole Plaza aren't great, but my son likes to stay there so we did. We had a pleasant surprise. The location is the same as the Hilton and Intercontintal, but a better price. It is within walking distance to the Metro Centro and some good restaurants. The staff was very helpful, breakfast was great and the rooms quiet and the beds very comfortable. The bathrooms could be updated, but the bed linens were nice. They moved breakfast so that the guests could watch the World Cup while they ate. We used their airport shuttle. It was prompt, the van new and clean and the driver friendly.

“Do not stay at the Seminole Plaza Managua!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2010

I made the mistake of staying at the Seminole Plaza based on the great experience i had when i stayed with them on my last trip in 2008, however, this time i had a whole different experience. First i find out the Seminole Tribe no longer owns the hotel and that the new owner is a government related company. The air conditioner in the room wasn't working so i complained to the front desk clerk who immediately switched me to another room but the a/c in that room was not working either. They gave me another room with a good a/c unit which broke down in the middle of the night. I tried talking to a manager the next morning but no one had the courtesy to talk to me. I went into the restaurant for the buffet breakfast which i had in my past visit and was excellent, but to my amazement the quality was not the same so i decided to move to another hotel in the city. I don't know if the Seminole Tribe is aware that they are using their name but they should really look into because the low standard of services offered at this hotel may reflect on them.

“The Wrong Choice when traveling to Managua”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2009

I have to travel five or six times a year to Nicaragua for business. I stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago, when the hotel was still property of the Seminole Tribe, and it was a good deal indeed. A couple of weeks ago I made the terrible mistake of staying there for two nights before simply walking away to another hotel nearby, where I stayed the next three nights.
The staff was rude, the room was filthy and the food –that was not good even when the Seminoles were in charge- was especially bad. I ended up eating at a mall that is like 5 blocks away. I complained to no use.
And like if all this wasn’t enough, all the time there were armed men in the building, not security staff but bodyguards of government officials that seemed to crow the hotel. I only had the chance to meet one or two guests that appeared to be tourists or business people.
There are plenty of hotels in Managua: just try to skip this one for your own safety. The country is beautiful and most of the people –except police and immigration officers- are really nice and kind.
