After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant to stay at this place, but it exceeded my expectations. The rooms are very clean, my bed was comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Lena (the owner) speaks perfect English and she was really friendly and gave me a lot of advice on what to do and see. I really felt at home right away.

I also liked the fact that the guesthouse is located in a very quiet and safe area. I felt comfortable walking around by myself and there is a very big shopping mall just a few minutes away along the main boulevard.

Overall I had a great experience and I will definitely come back!

I enjoyed my stay at this guest house. I don't speak any Spanish, so the lady working called the owner. She was wonderful and assisted me with things to do and see in El Salvador, as a matter of fact she gave me her mobil number, if I had any additional questions. The two individuals working at the guest house, was always cleaning. I felt very welcome. I would recommend this guest house, for any one traveling to El Salvador.

Ximenas is cheap and the beds aren't comfy, but if you're paying the price I did ($2 per bunk bed) you cannot really complain too much as it'll probably more of a stop-over for travels around El Salvador / Central America than a luxury retreat (If you're interested in that, there is an Intercontinental in San Salvador which is >100x the price!). I came with a large group (~11 of us), and whilst the place is terrifying in the tropical storms, it's pleasant and you can sort out your major amenities (close to the main mall, and they have an online kiosk you can pay to use to check emails). I warn against the showers which may electrocute you if you turn on the heating (cold water is sufficient when it's so hot anyway!). Bring your own sleeping bag / liner as the sheet cleanliness is questionable (as with anywhere for that price).

They are very friendly and helpful. There is a nice courtyard. They have good coffee. The private rooms are clean but very basic with stained ceilings and walls. For $35 for a single room there are much better places around. For $20 for a private room this would be a maybe. $35 is a bad joke.
