We just got back from Kiev and loved it. Beautiful city and a great hotel. We chose this hotel based on the reviews here, but didnt expect that we will get a room in a botique hotel with 11 rooms on a pretty short notice. We got lucky! 4 adults and a kid stayed in "Sasha" room, for the last night we stayed in Lolita room ( because I messed up with the date of departure and Sasha was already reserved for our last night there). No problem -- we got to experience 2 rooms.
Ok. Sasha is great for 3-5 people: 2 bedrooms and a living room with a couch. It is a very roomy apartment with a kitchen ( microwave, electric kettle, dishes and a fridge), a balcony and a bathroom. Their mini-bar is very reasonably priced, so we used it for coffee and water ( you'll drink a lot of water after walking up and down 7 hills Kiev is built on). TV had a couple of english channels too. 2 Fans. My only suggestion would be is to add a dresser or some shelves in one of the two rooms. The second room Lolita was great too ( for 1-2 people). As people wrote before, huge marble bathroom, nice kitchen with fridge, gas stove, and kitchen supplies, air-conditioned, with a comfortable bed and a satellite TV. Very comfortable stay.
The location of the hotel is great, very central, 10 min from the nearest subway "Leo Tolstoy" ; located on a quiet street where several embassies are. Very close to the Khreschatik. A little convenience store (so-so, didnt like the service there) is right next to the hotel. In general, if you like historical buildings, the hotel is perfect for you. It has that certain atmosphere in it, that is lost in the modern buildings.
Now about the staff: They were the best! Very helpful and knowledgeable about the city. They'll give you all the tips you need to know while in Kiev. Every single person whom we met ( from our driver who picked us up at the airport and offered us a little excursion to see Kiev's attractions on the way to the hotel -- to our everyday administrators) made us feel very welcome and sincerely cared about our comfortable stay at the hotel and our Kiev experience. They would show you the way to the Bessarabsky market ( most famous in Kiev, where you can pick up lard (yes lard, but it's more like bacon) and eat it cold with "horilka" ( ukranian vodka) from the mini-bar) (BTW, you need to ask permission to take pictures with market vendors), easiest ways to get to Andreev Spusk ( one of the oldest streets in Kiev), recommend restaurants, get you a taxi, and other things.
We cant say enough about our stay, definitely will come back if ever in Kiev again.
