Business trip - 3 months in Kiev. 1 week in the Tourist, trying to find a reasonable hotel in Kiev...

Stank like old cigarettes (colleagues also reported this). Not unclean... but not clean...
BROWN. Very soviet.
Noisy - from neighbouring rooms of ugly Ukranian men and their 'ladies of the evening', who take great pleasure in standing in the corridor post coitus and loudly discussing...
Free (slow) internet.

Service:
Typical Ukrainian, unfriendly and unhelpful.

Location/Amenities:
Far, far, far from the centre, or anything worthwhile.
local bars nearby, would not recommend a visit!

Awful service, awful awful room, awful 'other' guests, awful location, very uncomfortable feeling there, difficult to sleep.

Make sure you book a renovated room. Mine was fine, clean, 23rd floor, great views. Air con didn't work but on a -15oC night I wasn't cold. Bathroom ok.
Breakfast was terrible.

Strange entrance to the side shared with another hotel, corridors are ropey with heavy security (good thing) and lady on corridor to collect and leave keys with.
Fine for 1nt business, not for weekend with the missus though!.

This hotel is old (wich should not be a problem), not clean, the bathrooms are terrible!
It look likes they forgot to clean it proparly for about 5 years. The breakfast........omelet.
The bread is not fresh and you get the left overs from the other tables. We recommend the MIR Hotel: only a little bit more expensive, but you'll have a junior suite.

House dark and eerie. No corner shop. The gardener spent one whole day at the property in the garden with his own dog, preventing our dog and ourselves from being in the garden. We spent half a day cleaning ants out of the property. Had phone call from the owner on our return home accusing us of letting our dog foul on a cushion in the conservatory - absolutely furious - as had been unable to sit in the conservatory anyway due to lack of cleanliness.
