We stayed in Kozatsky hotel for three nights in May 2011. The aim of our trip was a short city break, and we were looking for some reasonably-priced hotel with central location.
Kozatsky exceeded our expectations in sense of location – it’s just at the corner of impressive Independence Square and close to everything that is worth seeing in Kiev.
Hotel itself remembers the Soviet times. Interior of the hotel, maybe except for the restaurant where the breakfast is served, is in desparate need for renovation. Be prepared for old furniture, threadbare bedding and damp patches on the bathroom walls. But despite first impression, it’s not that dirty, it’s just old and worn out ;)
Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and lady at the Reception Desk spoke very good english. We also found lots of helpful tourist information in hotel lobby (BTW, we recommend going for Free Walking Tours starting from the Independence Square). And benefits from the location made up for some inconvenience caused by the harsh conditions.
