The hotel is just half a block from the metro station which is two stations away from the city's main square. The building itself is old but it's still acceptable. The rooms were clean. The bathroom has a tub which looked stained but I guess it was just really old. The room was decently sized, it has a fridge which can come in handy if you buy stuff from the mega grocery store two blocks across the hotel (you can see it from the hotel entrance). The main road where the metro station is seems to be a busy one with plenty of stores and restaurants. The hotel offers breakfast at an additional cost so we didn't try it.
I think in its price range it's a great option. No luxury but clean and good location.

This 1989 hotel is a perfect place for those who would like to go back in time for 20 years. It's CCCP all over. On the down side: tacky Soviet chique, not in the nice part of the centre, chilly during the winter months and no breakfast refill after 9am (bad luck for those who take breakfast between 9.30 and 10am). On the up side: clean, friendly staff (they even speak some English at the reception) and relatively cheap (but still very expensive for what you would get in Western Europe)

Compare to the other overpriced Kiev Hotel for 510 UAH per night and 84 UAH for breakfast is very cheap. We stayed in a soviet style double room with view of the Republic Stadium. It was clean and the service was very friendly. The location was great, next to metro station and close to center (we could walk there for less than 15 min.) If you not expect luxury is a fine hotel.

Kiev is really overpriced so I was very happy with this hotel. Stayed in a luxury-double room for about $80 a night. The room was very comfortable with modern decor. It had a nice flat screen TV, a large fridge, very comfortable bed, coffee table, armchair and a safe, but that didn't work. The bathroom was clean but the clip that attaches the shower head to the wall was broken. The location is good, only 2 Metro stops from the centre. Next to the hotel they are doing some building work but apart from spoiling the view on one side it did not disturb us at all. There are also lots of nice restaurants, bars and a cinema very near to the hotel.
