We stayed on Arkabarka with a mixed choir (age 20-60) of 28, from Offenbach/Germany, for 7 days in October 2011. We occupied the entire hostel at a very decent per diem rate. The restaurant with its glass front to the river became our rehearsing room.
Manager and staff did whatever was needed to meet our (sometimes rather particular) needs. We did not expect (and not get) hotel standard. We paid for a hostel and got a location we shall dream of for the next hundred years, and we got nice, well equipped rooms - and very friendly, supportive staff. The cook did a good job for us - he very reliably stuck to what had been negotiated, and the food was good.
Arkabarka is easily reached by public transport (2 buses from downtown Belgrade, and the stop is only 250 yards away, just across the lawn of the Ušće Park).

I travelled alone and the staff took care of me and made me feel at home. The hostel is very clean, the sheets are colourful and the common area is cozy with a relaxed atmosphere. It is on water, but there were no mosquitoes in the room! Besides they have bikes which you can borrow for free. Busses to the center of the city pass nearby. I would definitely go back and stay with ArkaBarka again!

Very cheerful, clean, well-organised, and different from other accommodation types! Staying on this floating hostel on the Danube is a marvellous idea, but be sure to book way ahead!

We found about this hostel over the internet, months before coming to Belgrade. We arrived on Christmas eve, it was a rather cold night and the guy in the reception offered us a drink, which was quite cool. We chatted with him. Our room was delightful, small, with view on the river, as the hostel is floating, and cosy. Next morning the breakfast consisted of a toast - or more - and coffee. All the people on staff are really helpful and gave us great tips on what to do. As we shared the bathrooms, we weren't disappointed, because they were always clean. We met a lot of great people there and planning to return there. As the hostel is not on the city, you take a bus that passes every 10 minutes and costs like nothing. I strongly recommend this hostel to anyone who's not accustomed to hostels because this one is marvelous and is the perfect thing between a hotel and a hostel: really great facilities as hotel but welcoming and cozy as a hostel. I ll be returning here that's for sure.
