If you look for a cheap hotel, have not-so-high demands, and need a bed in downtown Belgrade - Garni Hotel Splendid may be a good solution. Old style (time-back machine) but clean rooms and perfect location (just oposit The City Hall, 100 meters from the Parliament) for reasonable price (about $60 for double bedroom) - perfect nest for walkers. Comparing to the others, it is 30-60% cheaper than the other hotels in vicinity.
I spent four nights at the Splendid whilst attending a conference in Belgrade and as all the four and five star hotels had been taken, I was worried that the only hotel left was the Splendid which is 3 star but according to the Belgrade travel agent, it was more 2 star! Yes, it is basic without any of the mod cons that I am used to but it was clean and the room was cleaned every day. The staff are friendly and helpful and I decided to make the most of it. For EUR 35 per night including a greasy breakfast, it was stunning value but on the downside, the shower didn't work very well, the bed was too short (I'm only 5'10"!) and the carpet was threadbare. If you aren't expecting to spend too much time in the room and are on a budget, I would recommend the Splendid.
