“Great location and best breakfast in Belgrade”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Whenever I go to Belgrade, this is my preferred hotel. My wife and I originally chose it for the most superfluous of reasons, the impressive facade, especially at night! It has turned out to be extremely functional for us as a base for walking the pedestrian mall (Knez Mihailova), going to the opera near Trg Republika, and hitting the nightlife of Skadarlija.

The lobby is small, but functional and the same with the lift. There usually is someone at the desk who understands English, but if there isn't just be prepared to leave your passport (as with all hotels in eastern europe) so they register you with the police. Holdover from communist days I guess.

The rooms, to be honest, have seen better days and are minimalist by western standards, but the beds are comfortable and it is generally quiet thanks to it's location off the main streets (unlike Hotel Moscow or Hotel Tas where I have stayed when the Palace is full). TV has quite a few channels and even though the channels are Serbian, the imported shows are generally in English with Serbian sub-titles (cheaper than dubbing).

Our favourite part of the Palace is breakfast (included in the rate like most Serbian hotels) which is fantastic! Pastries, cured meats, cheeses, eggs, and much more make it the best in the city.

All in all, this is a good place to stay that is convenient to the major attractions of Belgrade.

Just as a note, if you drive, you can park under the hotel for 18 Euros if you don't want to keep buying the parking tickets on the street, or want to ensure nothing bumps your car.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the front of the hotel (nicer outlook).

“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

The Palace hotel in Belgrade is in an excellent location, situated one block from the pedestrian zone for shopping and sightseeing (it's only a short walk to the park and the fortress, overlooking the Danube and Sava rivers), I had a strange room, where the bathroom was larger than the living area, but empty except for the usual items. Local status is 4 star, but probably wouldn't get even a 3 star rating in the west. But it was comfortable enough. There's a casino next door - if you're interested! Lots of good shopping nearby - and cheap. Reasonable value for money on the whole.

Very good facilities, gourmet cuisine and a stunning location close to the intriguing old town of Belgrade make the Palace Hotel one of the best value for money. It is ideal choice for young and business people. The hotel combines peace and tranquillity at the heart of Belgrade.

“Acceptable but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I went for a conference and did not look into other hotels, so I cannot compare to other hotels in the city. The location was close to sights and restaurants. The room was small and serviceable, but the facilities overall were rather old and musty. Free wifi was a plus though tended to cut in and out a lot. The desk staff was moderately friendly. So it was acceptable to stay in but shopping around might get you a better place.
