“Just better than a tent”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2008

Yhe hotel was booked and payed by my firend in Serbia so "I should not look a gift horse in the mouth" :)
BUT I can give my short review.
Location: 20-30 min taxi drive to the city center (it should cost you about 500-600 Dinnars one way). There are some taxis around the hotel so it is not a problem to get one.
The staff: very nice and helpful.
Rooms: rather small with TV and minibar and refrigerator. I attach some pictures. My biggest problem in ther room was terrible stink form the bathroom.
Price: I don't know the hotel prices in Belgrad and I didn't pay for this hotel, but in my opinion this hotel is much to expensive for the lack of quality they provide.
PRO:
- Free WiFi internet access in whole hotel and free computer with internet acces in the lobby (I think 4 of them).
- nice and helpful staff
- AC in rooms
- beautiful view from the 18th floor restaurant
Cons:
- Location (to the city center
- small and in my case stinky room
- the hotel is beeing renovating now so the lobby is very small and nesty and a lot of people are smoking there so the best way to get to the elevators is thru the side hotel "beer garden"
- bad price/quality ratio
Frankly, I would not recomend that hotel.

“Adequate and what you'd expect”

I stayed for two nights. For the price Hotel Srbija was what I expected. I stayed in a single room, which was clean and perfectly adequate. This isn't the Hilton. The breakfast was good. Service was generally good for Eastern Europe- the reception staff were helpful and polite. The hotel is a few km/miles from the centre but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel with frequent buses to the centre of town. Reception ordered taxis for me on 2 occasions- one was fine but the other was v. dodgy indeed (eg. seatbelts not working). I would suggest asking for particular taxi companies, although I don't know which ones they might be.

“Great value for money maybe a little tired around the edges”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2008

I stayed here at the same time as Eurovision Song Contest, so I'm guessing the hotel was packed to capacity.

I had a single room on the 10th floor at the back of the hotel for EUR 39 a night including a really good breakfast. Hotel is 3 stars however it maybe feels like 2.75 stars when compared to a more modern hotel like Ibis etc.

Plus : Bus and taxi stops outside, good shower, covered terrace bar, genuinely friendly reception staff, quiet room, good value for money.

Minus : Nothing major. Rooms at the front of the hotel look onto a main road so maybe noisy if windows are opened and could do with a little paint or cleaning, so nothing major at all and at EUR 39, not even worth noting.

Staff helpful and knwo areas and local transport well.

Taxis plentiful and affordable.

“Yucky!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

There was nothing horrible about the place, but everything was consistently below expectations.

Breakfast was horrible. The servers barely spoke English, and when asked for cold milk, became confused and delivered piping hot. They couldn't understand other simple requests either.

Reception staff frequently approached the threshold of unacceptably rude.

The rooms were "recently renovated," but if that's what they consider a renovation, I shudder to think about what they looked like before.

Again, all of it was doable but given the choice to do it again, I would find somewhere else.

“Very nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2007

I stayed at the Hotel Srbija in Belgrade for 1 week in July, 2007. I should specify that I stayed in one of the hotel's apartments, which I understand to be significantly nicer than the hotel's standard rooms.

The hotel itself is not very modern, but is well maintained and staffed. Everyone was very friendly and attentive, although the garden restaurant staff could not have been slower. The breakfast on the 18th floor restaurant offered a lot of variety and a lovely view of the city. The garden restaurant is lovely for drinks on a good summer night, but I would definitely not recommend the food. Absolutely awful. The location is not central, but close enough. A short bus or taxi ride away (not a walk, however) and very fortunately not in New Belgrade.

The apartment room was spacious, with free WiFi internet, a television with lots of choices and a nice bathroom. My only complaints about the room would be that the air conditioning only effectively reached the lounge room and the bathroom always smelled quite bad.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the hotel for anyone.
