“Cutest Family Run B&B”

I don't normally go out of my way to write reviews, but I wanted to for this B&B. I stayed at Vila Marija on a recommendation from a colleague, and was very happy with my three-day stay there. I just adored Igor, his entire family, and especially his two sweet children. The B&B is located in a residential, seemingly well-to-do part of town. The room was nicely furnished and came with a mini bar. The breakfast was simple but delicious. There was a variety of cold cuts, pastries, fruits, yogurt, cereal, and you can also have eggs made according to your preference. The neighborhood had many great restaurants within walking distance and a even a terrific salon across the street where I got an amazing hair cut!

“Vila Marija = the best B&B in Belgrade”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We stayed at Vila Marija when we visited Belgrade based on a friend’s recommendation. We were driving to the city from Sofia in Bulgaria; our GPS didn’t have Belgrade streets so finding Vila Marija was a big problem, despite the maps on their website. However once we arrived and were personally welcomed by Igor, we felt right at home. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds comfortable, and the breakfasts very tasty. Igor and his wife gave us recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood and helped us order taxis to the city center. Vila Marija is not walking distance from the tourist sites, but the warm hospitality offered makes this as ideal base for Belgrade visits.

“You couldn't ask for anything more!”

My friend and I occupied separate bedrooms here for 4 nights and we were both entirely satisfied with the location, amenities and facilities of the Vila Marija , the ample and interesting breakfasts and the solicitude of Igor and others. We commend it to you!
Although one reviewer seems to think the location a drawback we had no such reservations as we're from a very large, sprawling, bustling European city and to us it was de minimis. The location of Villa Marija is about 10 to 12 mins by bus to the centre and there's a frequent bus service just round the corner. Taxis are also available at short notice and are inexpensive.
Belgrade is very interesting- the locals are very amiable and willing to put themselves out to help strangers. There are unexpected gems round every corner; the waterfront area is beguiling with its view of the Danube. Let's hope Belgrade can put its past behind it and storm its way to a "must see" destination. It certainly has the potential. Villa Marija is contributing to that in no small measure.

“Welcoming with a great quiet sleep!”

At the last minute we changed our reservation to Hotel Marija based on reviews and we were so satisfied. The owner arranged to have us picked up from the airport, served an excellent breakfast, and took the time to get to know us and talk to us about Belgrade. Our room was spacious, clean, and was very quiet. The hotel is in a very quiet residential neighborhood which for us made for one of the best sleeping nights that we had on our trip. However, it is not so far out of the way as it is a very short walk over to St. Sava's church. One of the best places we have stayed. Highly recommended!

“A welcoming place to stay”

Let me begin with the downside: Vila Marija sits in a residential neighorhood, without restaurants or pharmacies or museums close by. (I like to be close to the action.) But the incredible personal attention by Igor, who mans the front desk and seemingly does everything else at the inn -- and with a smile -- more than offsets the isolated location.

Vila Marija is especially nice if you spend a few days there because Igor will be sure to try to meet all of your needs -- in my case, that meant serving me cold yogurt, cold milk and a hot omelette for breakfast. He also willingly printed maps and several documents that I needed to carry with me. He also stored a traveling ice pack in the kitchen freezer that I used for a bum shoulder.

You couldn't get this kind of personal attention in a large chain hotel.

The room was fine. The Internet connection was good. My only complaint: I had to sit down to take a shower.

Even though the inn was a bit isolated, taxis did come promptly. Igor also directed me to a restaurant about a 10-minute walk away where I ate several times.
