“Great for business week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Top features - very helpful staff, nice quiet off-street-but-near-the-center ambience

Tips: Ask for the larger rooms, i.e the x01's .. worth the few extra lei, the small rooms are ok but after 3-4 days a bit claustrophobic

Negatives... breakfast is very simple, fresh bread, grocery-store packet cheese, yogurt but pretty good granola. (The Coffee however, is *excellent*. ) The Wifi is also a bit flaky, but it is free and when working, working well.

All in all a very good value for a home-away-from-home in Bucharest.

“Rip off! 47 Euro in extra charges!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

We have travelled all over the world, and this hotel experience ranks as possibly our worst experience ever! At checkout, we were "mugged" by a vicious hotel manager. We were forced to pay 20 euros for "eating in our room", and 20 euros for two towels that had gotten a little dirty but would have cleaned up fine in the laundry. The nasty manager showed us the "rules" that said no eating in room and no using towels for makeup. One morning my wife wasn't feeling well so I brought her breakfast to the room, and another time we bought a few goodies at a local farmers festival (pastries, etc). Its not like we cooked or anything, just snacks! When we disputed the charges, the woman became abusive, screaming at us, and actually THREW the towels at us! We've NEVER been treated like that ANYWHERE!
In addition, there was some major construction being done on the roof right over our room, that made it absolutely impossible to be in the room all day long, including Saturday. Since we had just arrived from the US, we really needed some quiet nap time, and it wasn't even remotely possible.
The breakfast was uninspired, same yuck every morning (terrible bread, stale cheese, grissely salami...). The room had a tiny little tube TV from Ceaucescu's days, and the toilet seat was so poorly attached you had to do a balancing act.
Oh, other than that, location was OK, but there are many other alternatives nearby, so save yourself the pain and go elsewhere.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not any where near the construction projects!

I really liked the MichelAngelo - the staff were freindly and they had made a real effort to make the food and the room comfortable. Top marks.

The breakfast was lovely and recognizably familiar. Very welcome. The host spent time with the guests and very helpful with getting about and finding good restaurants etc. Lovely.

“Excellent choice !”

Very quiet, in the center and we felt safe. Close to Piata Romana and Piata Victoriei. The staff is GREAT, they give you all the information you might need without being bored to answer. The room was very clean.

So in one word we had a nice time! If we'll go again to Bucharest we'll definitely stay at this hotel. It is recommended.

Regarding the breakfast there is space for more (you should have more things to choose from).
