I have travelled to Bucharest in October for a business meeting, and decided to stay at the Carol Parc so that I could avoid the well known big crowded hotels. The choice turned out to be the best I could make. The staff was delightful and the food magnificent, I even had breakfast with the owners one morning, a wonderful family, and they made sure that my stay was a great experience. The place looks like a very nice french chateau, the rooms are big and luxurious, overlooking the whole city. If you are looking for a place to be treated like royalty and enjoy a very relaxing and luxurious stay, this should be your choice.

Bucharest has tons of five star hotels, or at least so it seems, until you stay at a real five star hotel like the Carol Park. Initially booked by my client, I've come back to stay here on every occasion where I had a say in making the arrangements.

You won't find five restaurants on site or retail for that matter, as you would at larger counterparts, but they are incredible at providing for guests in their restaurant and lounge. The staff go out of their way to ask you need anything. The managers are almost always around and I've even been greeted by the owners on several occasions.

The location is also wonderful, in a sense, it's downtown but not on one of the main streets. Instead, it sits on top of a hill in a downtown residential neighborhood next to which a sizeable park that is great for jogging if the weather isn't too hot (or too cold!).

The rooms (I've stayed in the Dlx and Exec rooms, don't know about Premium) are ideal for longer stays and overall the refurbished property is a dream. Some services are pricier than at the rest of the hotels (airport transfer was around $50), but overall the value is quite good for a luxury boutique hotel.

My first trip to Bucharest and this hotel made it all the more memorable. The room was large, quaint, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only grouse is with the housekeeping staff who cut corners in cleaning up the room. Essentially a great hotel for business or leisure.

The building is charming, the rooms are well appointed and what you would expect to find at a 5-star rated boutique. The staff was very polite and eager to help but the management is absentee and it shows. The airconditioning was off in most of the common areas during a hot July and I had to ask them to turn it on as well as the lights in most places. The hotel seemed deserted and I felt as though maybe they were trying to save on elecricty. The morning we departed the restaurant was supposed to be open at 7am but there was no one in the kitchen so a nice waitress was able to give us coffee and juice. And in the location of the hotel there are no other breakfast options so we went hungry. I strongly suggest you weigh the charm of this hotel with the convenience of one of the other, larger 5-stars. Generally we prefer boutique hotels, but I dont think Bucharesti is mature enough for this yet.
