“(Almost) perfect - what a pity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

The hotel is situated in one of the nicer parts of Bucharest, in a quiet area and yet not to far away from the center.

The room we had was very nice, and maybe one of the nicest hotel rooms I which I have ever stayed. The furniture, although already a couple of years old has been chosen with a lot of taste, and the room had a very nice flair. The bathroom was quite formidable for a 4 star hotel.

This could well have been the perfect hotel, and yet, it is the details that ruins a little bit the nice setting.

First of all, there is no elevator in the room. Since it probably is an old house, this by itself should not be seen as a negative point. However someone asking you or care about helping to carry the luggage to the third floor can and has to be expected from such a hotel. This was not the case.

According to the hotel, they have a parking for hotel guests. Since the reception did not inform us about this service, we asked a guy apparently working for „hanging around“ in front of the hotel about the parking. In fact, hotel guests can use the parking in front of the hotel (which does not belong to the hotel, but which is public) and which is blocked by chairs or other objects by this guard for hotel guests. He advised us to look for some parking in the street. Our impression was that a generous tip could have helped to have one of these parkings… Unfortunately, one of the parkings was also permanently bloocked by a car belonging to the hotel.

The hotel also announces on ist website that it has a spa area - neither hotel information in the room, nor the employee at the reception informed us about this hotel facility.

The hotel also advertises with a concierge service – we tried to get information about the opening hours of the People’s Palace (not really an uncommon place to visit when you are in Bucharest) and got nothing sensible and even wrong information. We also tried to ask about a nice restaurant, but again we only received a smile and the

Finally, the quality of the breakfast was average at best.

Rooms were very clean (as long as you do not take to close of a look under the bed or other furniture).

The hotel seems to employ a great number of personnel, many of them don’t seem to know what to do. All personnel was very friendly and tried to be helpful. Obviously, they seem to lack any form of training or experience, and I guess it is mainly management that has to be blamed for problems described above.

It is really a pity, because Residence Olivier is really a nice hotel, it has been put a lot of care and attention to details in the rooms’ furniture, and yet it seems to be very badly managed. The owners of the hotel should think about replacing management if they don’t want the hotel to be further run down.

“i will definitely go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2009

I went there with my boyfriend for one of those romantic weekends (because they also have that) and it was just wonderfull, the staff was very pleasant and prepared everything very nice for us to have a good time, we ate at the restaurant and the dinner was excellent, the weither very nice also.
The furniture and those beautiful small touches made everything nice to remember.
I will for sure go again when the spa opens!!

“Loved the hotel and services”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2009

I just came back from Bucharest from a 2 days business trip and I must say I found myself very well at Residence Oliviers. The hotel is original by design and very warm and pleasant. It took me 10 minutes to get in the centre of the city, University square and 30 minutes to get back to the airport. The hotel offers also shuttle bus service on request (euro 16) and this is confortable. I stayed there before, few months ago and I must say I was pleased to see the new refurbishments and nice personnel. Nice breakfast too. Internet access everywhere (free in the lobby) and they were opening a spa as far as I saw. I would definitely recommend it to others and come back in my future trips to Bucharest.

“horrible services, i do not recomend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2009

The hotel is really nice, made with good taste but the services are very bad.The employes have nothing in common with their job.We booked rooms in this hotel twice.First time was in october and we were in Bucharest for business. The Indagra event was happening in the same time and all the hotels were fully booked. The night was very cold and the heat was off in our room.We asked if there”a anything wrong with it and they told us that they will fix the problem until we come back from our meeting. The meeting finished late in the night and when we came back there was no heating at all.Of course we were very angry but the woman at the reception told us that she could do nothing at that time.In the morning the heat started by itself without any reparation.Looks like they were shuting down the heat in the night for financial reasons. In the morning when we went to have breakfast, because the hotel was fully booked, and other people have been waking up before us, we could”n get any because there wasn”t anything left!!!The other time that we decided to give this hotel another chance was in december on 29.We also went to Bucharest for business , stayed only for one night and we were the only guests in the hotel. We specified that we want to leave early in the morning and would like the breakfast to be served at 7,30, wich was the time that they were supposed to begin serving it anyway, according to the program. We woke up and went to have breakfast at the speccified hour but there was nobody there. We went to the reception and the woman there, very bored and quite angry to have been disturbed by us explained that because there were few clients in the hotel they decided to serve breakfast later. When we asked at what hour she answered that she did”t know. When we told her that we specified that we wanted to have breakfast at the first hour because we were there for business and we had to leave early she said that there is nothing she cold do.We then asked to pay the room price excluding breakfast since we didn”t get any but she said that this is the room price and if we don”t want to wait for breakfast it”s our decision.
Can you imagine? We were supposed to adjust our program to the program of the employees of that hotel!! Theese are not four stars services. It”s too bad, because the hotel is really nice, we liked the rooms and ambiance, but will never stay there again.

“We loved this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2008

Although the residence hotels are a little away from the city centre, they are well situated for two of the best museums in Bucharest - the Village Museum and the Peasant Museum - and are in old residential areas. We stayed at Oliviers, where our room was really a suite, with french windows on to the terrace. Big comfortable bed, settee, and large corner bath made the time I spent in the hotel very cosy.
We ate once in the restaurant and very much enjoyed our meal and had delightful service. The staff were all very friendly and we had a free transfer to the airport at the end of our stay, which made things so easy. I liked the fact that this did not feel like an international chain hotel.
Taxi rides in and out of the city varied from £2.50 to £4.50 depending on the time of day and the destination. Bucharest traffic is a nightmare
