“Very nice indeed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

I was booked in by my Romanian office and was very nicely surprised when I checked in. I was upgraded to a higher level of suite / apartment. It consisted of an open plan kitchn and dining area plus a lounge complete with large flat screen TV with access to a multitude of channels in an assortment of languages. Then there was a spacious bedroom again with a flat screen TV. The bathroom was well equiped and there was plenty of storage space.

I had access to the executive lounge for breakfast, fantastic spread and selection of cereals, fruit, cold meats, cheeses, fruit juices etc. Also in the evening I could use this lounge and have free soft drinks and snacks.

Internet connection was free and very high speed. Fantastic quality.

I really liked staying here and if my next trip is for longer I would actually use the kitchen and cook my own food.

The only down side is the beggars and prostitutes in the streets. I had been warned about them and how the children can be very aggresive and the prostitutes can be "in your face", but a firm "NO!" will see them off. Beware of the packs of street urchins which have been described to me as vermin. Having said that I felt safe here and there were numerous restaurants and bars.

In the hotel there is a gym and swimming pool, I wish I had brought my training kit and swimming trunks!

Another down side to Bucharest in general is that everyone smokes and the place is like an ashtray. There are only a few non-smoking restaurants to get relief from the smog.

“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

This was my second stay at the Centerville, and surely not the last one.
Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. So much nicer than an ordinary hotel.
The gym next door which is free for guests is amazing. Very big and active. If sport is part of your daily life, nothing beats this!
For Israeli - great having the Israeli channel in your room. Also Israeli items on the menu make you feel home.
I highly recommend!

“Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2010

I stayed at the Centreville Aparthotel for three nights and was impressed with the quality of the stay, the service, the staff and the room! The staff was incredibly friendly and Simona Terente, director of guest services was very helpful and courteous. The cleaning staff and the staff in the executive lounge were helpful and polite. The complimentary breakfast and evening happy hour in the lounge was far superior to any US hotel. The rooms were clean and my suite was comfortably equipped with all modern amenities.

“A good alternative to renting an apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2009

Stayed here for 4 months at the end of a 3 year expat assignment.

Lots of positives; the location is excellent, the apartments themselves are very clean, of a decent though variable standard (make sure you see a few before selecting one) with comfortable beds, the on site bistro is excellent and the staff are helpful. The rooms are serviced daily also and the place feels very secure. The smallest size were I think little bigger than a standard hotel room but the bigger one bed apartments (I think they are called Exec or Business) are fine.

However, did have some problems in my first apartment which had a bedroom facing the courtyard due to noise from the bistro being blasted around at unsociable hours. Despite multiple complaints the only solution that worked was to move to an apartment with a bedroom facing away from the courtyard.
Also, there are no washing machines on the site which is crazy for a place that caters to a clientele who stays for weeks rather than days. Dry cleaning/laundry service is available but is v. expensive by Bucharest standards.

The "Elite/5*" apartments are similar decor but have membership of the excellent adjacent gym/swimming pool + an exec lounge access. If you dont need either of these (I didnt) it is not worth paying extra for the Elite apartments.

I am happy to recommend Centre Ville but the lack of washing facilities stops me giving it 5 stars.

“slightly crumbly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2007

i stayed here for 3 weeks on business. the location is very good, very close to the Hilton (great drinks and food there) and cose to good bars and restaurants.

the apartments are in blocks so the reception is in a seperate building. my apartment had 1 bedroom with 2 chairs and a tv, a largish kitchen, bathroom, large hallway and balcony leading off the bedroom. the interior was ok, comfy bed, around 55 satillite channels, large window and long but narrow balcony. the kitchen was modern, but not very well equipped, no tin opener etc. there was no iron and ironing board in the room and a couple of times the iron or board that was delivered were broken.
breakfast was provided in a brasserie downstairs, it was ok, but lots of things there that i'd have had for lunch rather than first thing..coffees were good though.

the problem i felt was that the whole place was really quiet which unnerved me slighty, the only time i heard other guests was when the gentlemen nxt door to me were entertaining ladies for a couple of hours, this was not pleasant to listen to and i felt vunerable.

being high up in an aging building i was also concerned about fire safety, there was only one set of stairs and a lift and i couldn't see any smoke alarms but i was assured by the staff that there was one in the room.
the gym costs 10 euro a day, it was a flashy gym and lots of locals are members. internet connection is expensive.

if you are looking for space, convenience and self catering facillities then this is a good place, if you re looking for a touch of luxury and peace of mind with safety then i'd say the Howard Johnston might be a better alternative.
