“Good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

This was my third business trip to Bucharest and I stayed at this hotel for six nights. I have previously stayed at the Ibis Gara de Nord and wanted to try something more close to the city center. The hotels are pretty much the same. This is located about a seven minute walk from the Izvor metro station.

The staff at the reception are doing their job but it was only at check-out I met someone with a smile. The size of the room was good with two single beds and the bathroom must have been redone recently with good ventilation. The room was towards the rear and very quiet (compared to the other hotel).

Wi-Fi was free with good coverage in the room. You get a passcode at the reception. The cable TV offered at least CNN in English.

Breakfast was included but was quite simple with some bread, slices of ham and cheese, yoghurt, fried egg, bacon and sausages, coffee and fruit juices. I guess you don't need much more to get started. However the quality was not the best. Tried the fried eggs one morning and it tasted soap.

I also tried the restaurant for dinner a couple of times. Also here the quality was not the best including the service. The food is somewhat tasteless but clearly better than at the "Gara de Nord". The staff seems to be doing just what is absolutely needed without having to smile. One of the times I was there, I had waited 20 minutes for the food. The staff was just passing by not bothering. When I stood up to try and get some attention, I saw "my" waitress sitting outside smoking. Eventually the cook came out into the restaurant seemingly asking why no one served the food.

So if you are just going for a business trip and need a place to stay, this will do fine. But don't expect more service than you pay for.

I also want to note that (per November 2011) Google Maps have two entries for this hotel where one of them is in the wrong location. It is not located next to the Izvor Metro station.

“The worse service ever received!!!”

I stay often to ibis hotel because my client books us to this hotel when we come to Bucharest to work for this client. The rooms are spacious but very moderate in amenities. I have been astound from the very first time of the rudeness of the persons in the service, especially the guys in the restaurant. They were so abrupt, never smiling, and they look resentful any time you call them for an order. I do not know if this is typical of the Romanian peaple to be impolite. I travel a lot and I have never come across such behaviour. Adding up the 65euro daily charge of a single room in a 2 stars Romania hotel I do not recommend it for any reason!

“Greener Bucharest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Rather new hotel just a hummer throw from the "Peoples Palace", quite a greener part of the green Bucharest. Young diligent personell, friendly, but with somewhat uneven experience. Easy access to all main attractions of the city. Alltogether positive review. Thank you very much!

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

This two star hotel offers almost everything you would expect from a good four star hotel ! The rooms are nicely furnished, highly functional, and spotlessly clean. One of their PR slogans "everything you need but nothing you don't need" says it all. In addition, I had a magnificent view of the Parliament building from my room on the 8th floor. The room was air-conditioned (with controls in the room). The staff at the reception (next to the 24 hour bar) were very friendly and efficient (e.g. ordering a taxi to the airport which arrived within 3 minutes).
Breakfast was very good ; a buffet including e.g. very good strong coffee, fresh warm croissants, fresh fruit, various juices, etc
Considering the price and the "stars", this hotel surpassed my expectations by far !

Room Tip: Higher floors (7, 8) have nice views (one side to Parliament, the other over the city)

Good value for the price. Clean and spacious room, view to Parliament House if you choose front side rooms, no minibar. Its about 5 min walk to the metro station Izvor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with Parliament House view
