This was my third business trip to Bucharest and I stayed at this hotel for six nights. I have previously stayed at the Ibis Gara de Nord and wanted to try something more close to the city center. The hotels are pretty much the same. This is located about a seven minute walk from the Izvor metro station.
The staff at the reception are doing their job but it was only at check-out I met someone with a smile. The size of the room was good with two single beds and the bathroom must have been redone recently with good ventilation. The room was towards the rear and very quiet (compared to the other hotel).
Wi-Fi was free with good coverage in the room. You get a passcode at the reception. The cable TV offered at least CNN in English.
Breakfast was included but was quite simple with some bread, slices of ham and cheese, yoghurt, fried egg, bacon and sausages, coffee and fruit juices. I guess you don't need much more to get started. However the quality was not the best. Tried the fried eggs one morning and it tasted soap.
I also tried the restaurant for dinner a couple of times. Also here the quality was not the best including the service. The food is somewhat tasteless but clearly better than at the "Gara de Nord". The staff seems to be doing just what is absolutely needed without having to smile. One of the times I was there, I had waited 20 minutes for the food. The staff was just passing by not bothering. When I stood up to try and get some attention, I saw "my" waitress sitting outside smoking. Eventually the cook came out into the restaurant seemingly asking why no one served the food.
So if you are just going for a business trip and need a place to stay, this will do fine. But don't expect more service than you pay for.
I also want to note that (per November 2011) Google Maps have two entries for this hotel where one of them is in the wrong location. It is not located next to the Izvor Metro station.
