I stayed 2 nights in this hotel. First floor, view: inner yard. During the night was a terrible noise from the air conditioner units, the room has an unpleasant smell (I discover later that comes from the air conditioner filter and refrigerator....both without proper cleaning).
Breakfast very poor:)). On 2 square meters is all food presented. No space for 2 persons there:))...Seems that crisis is everywhere.
I didn't like it at all. And it is not cheap for 3 stars.
Only location was ok...but I select the hotel to be near my business needs.
I will not come back for sure.

We stayed here for our first and last nites in Romania as part of a private tour. The hotel is well located in this very large city. We were able to walk to great restaurants and some sights. The metro station is nearby. Rooms were comfortable and clean, only negative was they do not have wifi anywhre in the hotel. We were sent to another hotel nearby, about three blocks, for complimentary computer usage which was nice.

We spent 4 nights at the hotel in a small suite named for an opera. It was more than satisfactory; in a central and convenient location. The front desk and other staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ample and served in a lovely dining room (although the coffee was bad). The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom, too. However, the shower lacks anywhere to park your soap and shampoo.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Opera for three nights in September 2009.
It was in a very good location, in a quiet side street a few minutes walk from Piata Revolutiei and with the Cismigiu Gardens on the doorstep. We were in room 204 which was good sized, especially for a city centre hotel, with an en-suite shower room and a small balcony. The room had tea making facilities, mini bar and wide-screen satellite TV.
The English speaking staff at reception and in the breakfast room were helpful and the chamber maids were also very helpful. I needed some laundry done and was expecting to pay the commercial rates but once she had collected the clothes the chamber maid offered to do them herself at half the price, so we were both happy.
Breakfast was a good buffet including cereal, cold meats, cheese and salad or scrambled eggs with sausages, croissants, yoghurt and fruit.
The décor was brash but on just the right side of tacky and the hotel aspires to be up market but stays just on the right side of pretentious. It is pricey if you accept their regular prices but we were able to get a good deal by the internet and paid £80 for room and breakfast.
In summary if you are looking to avoid the main hotel chains and want to be well located and comfortable the Hotel Opera is a good place to stay.
