The lobby was undergoing renovation during our visit, so unless you like the smell of paint and the sound of powertools, it is not currently the place to relax. No doubt it will be in good order soon enough. The lobby staff were very helpful and friendly.
My room would have been grand in 1989. Queen bed, plenty of room, well-appointed bathroom. There's a wardrobe, a safe, plenty of luggage storage, three very large mirrors. A small writing table (in need of repair), tea making facilities (no black or green tea though, just "fruit infusion"), a bar fridge loaded with mini-bar temptations. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with six shower heads, so you can slam yourself with hot water from head to toe - or so I thought. Unfortunately all the nozzles are blocked up with calc/limescale and the water has a raw sewage smell to it. I showered in a colleague's room where there was no such issue. Pot luck there. The TV is a pre-flat-screen model, with lots of channels. The decor is "1980's business suite". Red wood veneer furniture, cafe latte coloured curtains, bedspread and carpet. All in need of updating. The carpet needed a proper clean for sure, otherwise everything was clean.
I turned off the heating in the room and opened the doors to the small balcony on occasion to reduce the room temperature. They keep the place very well heated indeed, which I am sure will be a bonus for some.
Our rooms came with free wi-fi. The ticket is obtained from reception and is good for six hours (non-sequential) of reasonably speedy broadband. It will cost ten Euro for other customers without such a deal.
The restaurant provided loads of filling, hearty Romanian food served with lashings of genial hospitality. We sampled local wines which did not dissapoint. A great meal and not too expensive either.
All in all, this place needs a few things looked at regarding maintenance, but the service can not be faulted.
