After reading the rather mixed reviews here I was interested to see how the Central would pan out in practice. As a general answer, quite well, actually.
Our arrival was very late evening, and the staff was warm, friendly and helpful. I think it is important to say that we are a gay couple, and this is Bucharest, not the most gay friendly of places. But the check-in experience a good one.
The suite itself was large, spacious, modern and comfortable. The bathroom, complete with jacuzzi was well appointed. The only few disappointments in the room would be the bad choices for lighting elements... either weak spots by the bed, or a glaring and unpleasant desk/floor lamp. Also, the product in the bathroom doesn't equate with a hotel that would like it market itself as 'design.' Other than these issues, the room was comfortable.
The bed was good, large and we slept well. Although there is street noise, it wasn't disturbing. The air conditioning is effective and of a modern standard.
The only real drawback is the uninspired breakfast. And the surly wait staff in the breakfast room.
a couple tips. though the hotel offers a transfer service from and to the airports, they are greatly overpriced -- a legal taxi is a better deal. This hotel is part of a chain in bucharest and so their properties seem to be a good bet.
All in all a good place to be.
