“Great Choice for Bucharest Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We spent two nights at the Hotel Central in Bucharest in November. We were several friends traveling together, and we were nervous about what we might find because the rate was so reasonable, but we were very pleasantly surprised. It is newly renovated, and although the rooms are the size you would expect in Europe, they were efficient and comfortable, although one of us had to use the desk in our room as a luggage rack because of the space. Between our group, we had four different rooms, and ours was actually the smallest. The bathrooms were modern and well appointed. Be sure to ask for a room on one of the higher floors and in the back off the street. One of our group was there on a Saturday night and suffered from loud street noise because they were on the main road. The breakfast was generous and varied - really delicious choices with lots of local foods. The staff was friendly and helpful. They sent us just down the block to a local restaurant that was a hit with us. The free wi-fi worked well and could be picked up in all of our rooms.
While in Bucharest, be sure to take the Hop On - Hop Off bus if you have time. The ticket is good for 24 hours after you first buy and validate it. Also look up the free walking tours which can be found on the internet. We met the guide in Old Town and had a free 2+ hour tour. Tips were gladly accepted but not mentioned or asked for by the guide. It was really interesting and a great way to see the city at night on foot. Do not miss the outdoor Village Museum, which is on the Hop On - Hop Off bus route, and be sure to give yourself at least a couple of hours there.
We emailed the hotel about transportation from the airport, and they had a driver pick us up. Five people, one way, was E55. There is also an airport van service that you can find on the internet, but the price is about the same, and we did not have to drive around the city dropping off others by using the service arranged by the hotel. It was nice that we could put the fee onto our hotel bill and did not have to worry about having local money the second we arrived.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor and on the back side of the hotel, away from the main street. The...

“Excellent hotel, Excellent Location, Friendly people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Excellent hotel (recently renovated), excellent Location, tasteful room decoration and the friendliest people I have ever met working in a hotel!! It is really worth it. Though is in the middle of the city the windows have great sound insulation, so this was really not a problem! And trust me I only sleep in quiet environments. It only has a restaurant for breakfast but who cares!! There are so many amazing and cheap restaurants just across the street (a great Romanian restaurant is literally next door to the hotel)!! I strongly recommend Central hotel. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! Regards from Nicosia – Cyprus

“Very good hotel, great location”

We stayed four nights in one of the family suites. Excellent price for a 2 bedroom and one bathroom suite. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. Modern and well stocked up bathroom. The staff is quite helpful. Decent buffet breakfast with a selection of cheeses and cold cuts, fruits, yogurts, eggs. The hotel is conveniently located a few steps from the beautiful Cismigiu urban park and from the nice shops and restaurants in the pedestrian streets.
We recommend the restaurant VATRA further up the street, great food and superior service .

“Ok, but not great either.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

This is an ok hotel, and it is very central. It is generally clean, and the staff are indeed very friendly and helpful. In our view, the main problem with the hotel is the weird cheap decor. The bedroom we stayed in, had black carpets, with dark red curtains and very strange pictures hangings on the wall. The breakfast was also fairly poor, however, we stayed here after having been in Romania a few days, and it was the same as elsewhere in Romania. The loud televisions in reception are very annoying when trying to talk to the staff. To conclude, this hotel is fine for a stop over and somewhere to sleep, but not if you are expecting somewhere you would like to spend a considerable amount of time.

“We liked it and would go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

Location, staff service (including repair man) and rooms excellent.
Suggestions for breakfast: get real orange juice i.s.o. lemonade (Freshly squezed would be bonus); swith off the annoying videoclips on flatscreen
