Stayed at the Lido in August 2007. I go to Bucharest every summer, and usually stay at the Intercontinental. This year, however, I found the room rates at the Intercontinental way too high (~$300), since the rooms are tiny, and so decided to go with a much more reasonable ($150) option at the Lido, a hundred yards away. It is a pleasant hotel with a European old-school hotel vibe. The receptionist was not very helpful in trying to locate my reservation I had made through Otel.com, so I had to insist until she realized that my first name had been entered as my last name. Then she turned very friendly once she noticed we had the same birthday!
Beyond this initial hiccup, I found my stay very pleasant - the rooms are spacious (if sparsely decorated), the bathroom quite large, the bed comfortable (though very low when compared to US-style), and the daily breakfast had a wide selection. Yes, the carpets in the hallways could use an update, but the occasional local sculptures and artwork compensate even for the tiny, old elevator.
A much better value if you are not staying there on an expense account.
