“Quite satisfied with our choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

Stayed 4 nights, specifically wanted to be near Cotroceni neighborhood. Much better choice vs. near by alternatives. Newly built in last 2 years. Good sound proof windows, aircon worked well in heat wave, crisp sheets, nice pillows. Junior Suite was huge, view of Parliament bldg., big bathroom with both tub and shower stall. Good breakfast but you have to get there well before 10am when most of the food is gone. On site bar/lounge to have a coffee or mineral water or drinks.
One criticism would be that bedroom carpets need to be shampooed already and weren't properly vacuumed - crumbs from previous occupant. Bathroom was pristine however.
Desk staff professional and helpful for cab, wakeup calls, etc.
Onsite free parking quite a plus as we had a rental car and were concerned about security.
Go visit Parliament (interesting for foreigners, despite the controversy) but ask hotel to make reservation ahead. Great restaurants: Vila Doina (in a park setting), and Locanta Jaristea - lovely, old-fashioned-feeling, lots of old silverware collected from all over adorning the tables, charmingly decorated with paintings on walls, heirloom furniture - quite worth going out of the way for this Romanian treat with traditional atmosphere and food, good service too.
Good internet rate, with discount for longer stays.

“Good Hotel, but not in best location for tourists”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

I stayed here for four nights in July 2010 in Room 715 on the 7th floor. The twin room was huge with a flat screen TV (no English channels sadly). Very clean, comfortable beds, well equipped, air conditioned and electronic safe in the wardrobe at no extra charge. Most rooms apparently have a view of the Palatul Poporului (Parliament Palace) but not mine! It was quiet though. Wi-Fi internet access didn't work in my room but was fine in the reception and bar areas. The room was cleaned and towels changed daily.

I booked through Octopus Travel at a bargain rate of £126 for 4 nights including breakfast.. My flight arrived early but I was able to check in as soon as I arrived at the hotel, reception staff very good and spoke good English. Beware the taxi to the airport if you ask them to book it for you though - taxi was 100 lei, only 50 lei from airport to hotel although admittedly taxi was not as posh! Buffet breakfast available from 07:00 until 10:00 - cereal, juice, rolls, bread, pastries, spreads, ham, cheese, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee etc

I had one evening meal in the restaurant and that was also very good with reasonable prices for a hotel. In the bar Ursus beer was excellent and only 6 lei. (about 4.5 lei to the £ when I went), good service too.

It's about half a mile walk through Izvor Park to get to the nearest metro station. You could get a ticket for 10 journeys on the metro for 8 lei. Half an hour or so to walk to Piata Unirii and shopping centre and on to Lipscani (Old Town). I walked to / from Piata Victoriei in about an hour and a half.

Overall I would say the hotel is aimed more at business travellers than tourists but it suited me fine for the price.

“Lost my reservation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2007

The parliament lost my reservation, but were very good at booking me in the Capca hotel nearby. I would confirm my reservation at the Parliament by phone prior to arrival just in case.

“It depends......................”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2006

Good: air-con, mini-bar, cleanliness, spacious room, friendly and helpful staff, internet access in the room.
Average: breakfast
Poor: quite a walk to the "centre" and very noisy ( traffic) with open windows or if your room is at the front.
