“Great location, good climate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

The main advantage of Capitol hotel is it's perfect location on Calea Victoriei, the very city centre. The rooms are not too big, rather dark and you can feel like the hotel has it's years. But I really liked it's climate - a bit of "Million Dollar Hotel" like. Good for business or tourists needs, not neceserilly for just-married or other issues when you need perfect comfort and beauty.

“Awful, awful, awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2011

Upon entering the first room we were given, we immediately found an old cut apart plastic two-liter that had been used as an ashtray, filled with dirt and cobwebs, next to one of the beds. Beyond that, the sheets were stained and the closet doors were broken. So, we asked for another room seeing as this one hadn't been cleaned very well. The second room was clean enough (although it still had stains all over the comforter), but the TV didn't work and the bathroom light only sometimes came on. So we requested a third room. The TV didn't have a remote (which is needed to turn the TV on), and in looking for it, I found a loaf of moldy bread in a bedside table. So we stayed with room number two. During this time, we had an incredibly rude receptionist. I mean, she scowled at us, spoke rudely to us, and pretty much let us now that she could care less. In addition, she told us that they used to have 6 housekeepers, but now only had 3, so it's not her fault that the rooms couldn't be cleaned. "They just didn't have the ability." On top of that, their credit card machine wasn't working! They also say they have wireless internet in the lobby... they don't. Plus, the walls are paper-thin. And when I say paper-thin, I mean paper-thin. I could literally hear every word that everyone said who happened to be by our room (which unfortunately was near the elevator). Then to add insult to injury, they called us a "gypsy" cab to take us to the airport. He refused to start his meter, and he told us it was a "special flat rate". I'm sure the hotel got a kick-back from him. I've travelled all around the world and have stayed in dozens and dozens of hotels, and this is by far the worst.

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2010

The welcome was great. Nice room. Good furniture. Amazing food. The waiters don't disturb you too much with room service. They have an amazing pool.

I remember this situation when I could hear sounds from the neighboring room. Before I could complain about it, the reception called up apologizing and mentioning that they managed to change the room for those people. Was truly a delighting satisfactory experience.

“Does not deserve the stars”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

Horrible hotel. Dirty towels and linen.
Had to sleep with my clothes on.
We spent one of the evenings with no power. No one even cared to give us candles.

“In need of major refurbishment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

Two step backs in time. One in the 1980s, the other one in the 1900s. This hotel is in need of a drastic refurbishment. Excellent location, excellent architecture, terrible furniture.
