Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff are great being very friendly, polite and helpful going that extra yard to make our stay a memorable experience. Beds are super comfortable.

“Awful mushandled service on arrival but pleasant hotel and very good restaurant”

Upon arrival after a flight from the US, I waited close to 45 minutes in lobby as the staff searched for my confirmed reservation. They then told me I could come up to my room while they sorted things out and would bring me check-in materials in a few minutes. The bellman took me to a spectacular two room suite where I unpacked and started to take a shower. The bellman returned informing me that I had to leave this room to go to another one. I repacked and was moved to a regular room downstairs. This could have been handled so much better. Why was I brought to the suite if the other room was available? Why did they make me move once they put me in the suite? Why was no offer of compensation or apology (even a bottle of wine) offered for the inconvenience of not getting into my room for almost two hours? Completely bungled and unprofessional arrival.

The hotel was subsequently quite pleasant. The rooms are spacious and clean with free (albeit slow and limited quantity) wifi available. The location near the park and walkable to downtown is charming. The food at the restaurant outstanding if extremely expensive.

“Probably the best hotel I've stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011 via mobile

When we arrived for our long weekend stay we were greeted by friendly helpful staff. The junior suite we stayed was spacious and well appointed with a large bed and large bathroom. The spa facilities were good with a pool, steam bath and sauna with the option of a massage. The breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection of hot and cold food. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly. We thought the only negative was that the restaurant was very expensive for dinner. We ate out every evening as there are numerous good and cheap Romanian restaurants nearby.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bucharest.

“Hidden gem”

Tucked away in tiny, quiet a cul-de-sac street in downtown Bucharest, one may have a difficult time getting there. Not all taxi drivers know of it, nor many locals do. It' a stone throw form one of the nicest and oldest parks in the city and just 10 min walk from the University Square and the Old Town.

The hotel is nicely designed in a pre-war style on the outside although is a newly erected building (opened oct 2010). Modern minimalist and tasteful decor in lobby, restaurant, spa and rooms.

Only a small number of rooms (about 25 if I recall rightly). All of them are suites, junior or master. Excellently spaced, designed and appointed.
Spa is a little basement floor marvel, wet + dry sauna, showers, a great pool with fancy lighting. Gym room rather small.
But the restaurant is a hit.
In a city with no michelin awarded restaurants this is one of the only two restaurants in the city with the menu and kitchen run by Michelin star awarded chefs, Guy Martin (3-star).
Try their beef, their pumpkin consome and fabulos deserts, all washed down with great and rare Podgoriy Isaresco romanian red wine.
Very friendly and attentive service thoughout unlike the one offered many other pretentious and more expensive establishments. Western europeans may excuse me being blunt - the service is surprisingly close to American standard, which is somewhat rare to find and not consistent throughout western europe while in the east is simply not applicable. Here, they managed somehow to do it.
Underground and outside parking complete the amenities in city suffocated by traffic chaos and parked cars everywhere.

This is a great spot if you chose to visit bucharest for leisure (unlikely) or have to for business or personal reasons. Treat your guests at epoque and they'll be thankful.
