I stayed with three friends and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms were very clean and spacious and the staff in the hotel were very accommodating. The breakfast is plentiful. On our first morning we were late up and thought we had missed breakfast but the staff said they hadn't cleared away and go and help yourself which is just one example of their excellant customer service.
The bar prices were very reasonable too, with a bottle of wine costing just over £5...
The location is central and easy to get to from both airports using public transportation, if you want to avoid the taxi mafia. Get off at Piata Romana and it’s a ten-minute walk from there. I thought I was getting good value, but check-out was unpleasant. When I booked the hotel, the description said payment is to be made in local currency, but the official price was listed in euros. Upon checkout, I used a credit card and was charged an exorbitant rate that was about three percent above the official exchange rate as well as those of private exchange banks. The bill listed 4.48 lei to the euro, even though the all-time high of the euro was 4.3688 on June 30, 2010. On the date of my checkout - Nov 21, 2011 - it was just above 4.36. This is not the way to treat guests. I protested to the front desk receptionist (about 60-year-old short guy) who couldn't care less and said that was the hotel's exchange rate and the official rate didn’t matter. So does this mean they can just charge whatever they want? The hotel room was very clean and looked modern but the mattress and cheap pillows were uncomfortable, no down comforter/quilt, just polyester. Staff only wanted room number at breakfast. There was a good selection of food and beverages but the “hot items” were lukewarm and not all fresh, especially the eggs and omelettes, although they do offer to make fresh omelettes upon request. There were around 40 TV channels with many showing American films with Romanian subtitles, but only one international news channel (Euronews in English). I go to Bucharest about once a year and would have considered staying here again if they didn’t cheat me. I’ve stayed at over 50 hotels in the past few years and have only had unpleasant experiences in Bucharest.
This smart looking hotel is located right in the belly button of Bucharest. Just a walking distance to the Old City Centre, to Piata Universitatii, to Cismigiu Park. It's surrounded by old (but some of them sadly neglected) buildings.
I've got a double room, modern furnished with a large window. The bed was just great. A flat TV screen was fixed on the wall, with dozens of channels available. The AC was working perfect and so was running the WiFi. The wardrobe was spacious and clean and a safe was there. Clean fluffy carpet, comfortable armchairs.
The bathroom was just impressive: modern and clean, with fluffy white towels and good quality toiletries.
The breakfast was excellent, the food was nice looking and tasty. A great selection of teas was there and the coffee was very good. The terrace was open (we stayed here in July) so we came here for lunch, as well. I ordered some salmon in whatever sauce, which was really mouthwatering.
The only problem that I can highlight is about the waiters. They were acting like in a slow motion film, especially during the lunch time.
Modern and clean for reasonable price, silent neigberhood, kingbed, free wifi, nice service for 109E
