“Nice boutique hotel but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

I recently spent 3 days in Bucharest for professional purposes and my company booked a room in this hotel for me. The initial suggestion from our local colleagues was another hotel in the area, much cheaper but slightly further away from the meeting place. I collected the pros and cons of this hotel, after my short experience with the room:

Pros:
+ Located in a quiet area, near the lake
+ Nice view from 4th floor rooms / roof
+ Big room, nicely decorated
+ Warm, comfortable and with soft carpet on the floor (I really liked that!)
+ Big balcony with chairs and table
+ Free fast wireless internet (despite the fact that the card in the room mentioned a cost of 10 euros per stay!)
+ friendly staff
+ nice complimentary staff (shampoo and shower gel with olive extracts, slippers, robe)
+ comfortable bed with hard mattress.

Cons:
- Rather pricey for a hotel in Bucharest
- it was noisy sometimes, mostly noises coming from the road
- no dark curtains available - good thing that I had to wake up early anyway!
- rather limited breakfast buffet, but it was tasty! Coffee was only available through the staff (not available in the buffet) but it was really good
- rather far from the city center, even though the route was nice to walk

General conclusion: It was a really nice experience and it was a good thing that it was paid by my company. It would be hard to me to pay 100+ euros per night for staying in Bucharest, since I thought that the prices for rooms like that one would be rather lower. If you can afford it, I believe that it would be a nice choice. Otherwise, you may find significantly cheaper hotels in the area, in a walking distance from this one.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the 4th floor if available, so that you will have access to the big balcony and ni...

“Decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

The concept of this boutique hotel is really nice. However, like most Eastern European hotels, it lacks professional maintenance and reliable staff. Poor breakfast. They charge you for Internet and spa, no matter you're a guest. Very nice surrounding, although a bit far away from Bucharest downtown. Also problems with hot water. Staff needs better command of English. Very, very nice spa area, ideal for individuals or a small group.

“Only recommended if you adore antique style”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

We chose the hotel among the preferred hotels that were offered by our company in Bucharest next to the office. Upon arrival we were greeted by a member of the hotel staff who transferred us from the airport to the hotel. This was a nice touch and we were also glad to find the hotel is conveniently located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood.

The member of the staff at the reception who greeted us did not have good possession of English so we had a bit of the struggle to explain ourselves. Despite that the rooms we were given were clean, tidy with the suites decorated in antique style.

Despite unusual decoration it felt that the suite was slightly 'antiquated': keys replacing entry cards, rusty showerheads, absence of any kettle or coffee-maker. Moreover, there is no iron that you could borrow, so you must pay for the ironing services if you stay at the hotel. Also if you arrive on weekend and have an early morning meeting on Monday you must ensure that you carry an ironed shirt with you as there are no ironing services on weekends. Furthermore, the personal hygiene pack is limited - you must ensure that you carry your toothbrush and toothpaste if you stay at this hotel.

The breakfast was good with good choice of food and professional service from the staff. We enjoyed the coffee, which was very well made.

The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful when we asked them for some help. There was, however, very loud noise on some of the evenings due to corporate presentations in the dining are of the hotel. Some of my colleagues also had difficulties with the sleep due to constant dog barking next to their windows. Other nuisances included absence of hot water for some of us on our last day of stay and intermittent wi-fi connection interruptions. This said wi-fi speed was swift.

The bar was fully filled which was good considering absence of shops in a vicinity of the hotel. However, we felt that the mini-bar prices were high when compared to those in other top-rated Bucharest hotels we stayed at. Usage of SPA facilities was also not included in the price.

On the overall you can definitely find better hotels at the lower price in Bucharest. I could only recommend the hotel if you love rooms decorated in antique style.

“Great boutique-style hotel with friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

Convenient location with an nice walk to Herrestrau Park, the Museum of the Village, or the 'Arc de Triomphe'. In a nice neighborhood close to the city center, on a not too-busy road. I have stayed there twice for 4 days each time. I decided to write the review because it really deserves to be much higher up on the list for Bucharest hotels.

“10 plus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2009

10 plus from my point of view. Such an elegant and stylish hotel, very unique for Bucharest. Is as good as the other Residence Hotel I stayed in, Residence Cerisiers. Good services and good food. Free internet access, conference facilities and most of all, nice rooms in quiet area. The atmosphere says it all. 10 plus!
