I am from Holland and visit Moldova since 1995. I notice a great development during those years. De last 8 years i booked the hotel Vila Verde after many disapointments in other hotels. Beside a good staff is the owner Alexandru a men who is always looking to improvements to make it even better as that it is already! He also get suport from a men (Wim Leichner) from the Netherlands and you can notice thise influence to! Super Hotel with very nice and decent rooms! I am a regulare visitor (3 or 4 times a year) and I feel myself always welcome!

“Adequate for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

Prices are good and you will get what you pay for. Nothing fancy, but totally okay. Maybe not the best choice if you are here on a holiday and want the feeling of luxury.

LOCATION
About 15 minutes from the city center by car. You should probably have your own car if staying at this hotel or use taxi, which will be about €2 to the city center (remember to set the price with the driver before getting in the car).

ROOMS
Double rooms are very spacious with large bathroom. A/C, desk, large closet, safe, TV, phone. Hard beds which should be replaced (very old).

AMENITIES
Adequate breakfast buffet, vegetables, milk, choice of corn-flakes, coffee, tea, juice, bread, cheese, ham etc. Free wifi in lobby, restaurant and rooms.

SERVICE
Typical Eastern European service standard. The staff will try about 50% to help, and they'll make sure you understand you are interfering with their reading or surfing around on the Internet.

You'll find great wines there, I recommend Hincesti. Staff from restaurant not friendly at all. Afordable comparing with others hotels near by & pretty clean and fancy. The single room costs 45€.

“simple and reasonable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2009

Villa Verde (green villa) is a reasonable budget hotel, around 15 minutes taxi ride from city center and 25 minutes from airport.

Room rate includes breakfast (check out the very loud coffee machine!), but for lunches and dinners (especially for groups/ events) you will find better food elsewhere. There is no bottled water provided in the rooms (it is not advisable to drink tap water), you can either buy it from the reception or take a 10 minute walk to nearest supermarket.

This hotel has no lift, while some rooms require taking stairs down and then up again. There is a strange policy of not changing towels and sheets for several days, but otherwise the rooms and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. There is free and stable wi-fi internet connection throughout the hotel.

It is recommended to order taxi and always get an estimation of the cost from the reception, and to make sure that taxi drivers use the meter.

“are we there yet?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2009

Food mediocre and trying to get a smile or even an acknowledgment of your existence out of the restaurant staff, well dont even think about it.
Front desk is a little better the girls are generally more friendly they speak some English and were helpful for booking taxis and suggesting places to go eat. The hotel is a few Km out of the city centre and there really isnt a lot in the neighborhood in terms of entertainment or shopping.
The rooms and decor are clean modern in a post Soviet kind of way. If you dont speak Russian or Romanian dont bother switching on the TV. Walls seem to be quite thin I was kept awake a number of nights by extremely noisy neighbors (Georgian I think) who kept slamming doors and partying all night.

Security seems pretty good the security guards all seemed quite earnest while watching the numerous cams from around the hotel at the entrance.

For some strange reason bathroom towels and bed sheets are only changed every 3 days and if you want them changed more often you need to pay extra! Mini bar in room was empty and the bar so uninviting you would have to be an alcoholic or manic depressive to want to sit there and drink. The outside garden area looks like it could be inviting in the warmer months, but during my stay was too cold and wet to sit outside. Overall its ok but as its my first Moldovan experience Ive nothing to compare it with in the rest of the country.

  • Liked — free wireless
  • Disliked — the grumpy staff in the restaurant
