We got a large room in the building behind the main house, and I have to say this might be the strangest hotel room I've ever stayed in. With gaudy blue marble and mirrors everywhere, this room has adult film set written all over it. That being said, we liked the room and loved the bathroom, which had a great walk-in shower. Breakfast was very good and the service was nice as well.

Stayed with 6 people (3 rooms) at the House. It's a great hotel (given it is a 2* hotel). Rooms are spacious, with good bathroom. Beds a bit hard, but nothing really to complain about. Breakfast is included, which is quite nice. Scrambled eggs can be made for you.

Location is good. In the middle of a more upscale area. Across the street is an excellent restaurant (Toscana). Eerything in Sofia is within walking distance. Main shopping street starts a few 100 meters down the road.

This hotel, which has the feeling of a family guest-house, is situated in a quiet street off the main Vitosha Boulevard. It takes about twenty minutes by taxi from the airport in normal traffic conditions and is an ideal place to stay to visit Sofia. Public transport, shops, post-office, park and cafés are just round the corner and you can also walk to most of the sights and museums.
The rooms vary in size and have nearly all been modernized. The prices are incredibly reasonable so it's worth paying that little bit extra to have a bigger/better room. Breakfast is included in the price and is filling and varied - incredible value.
The owners speak good English, go out of their way to welcome you, and are keen for you to enjoy your stay with them. This attitude and the homely atmosphere of the hotel soon make you feel like part of the family and if you choose to eat in their restaurant, they can recommend several Bulgarian specialities from the extensive menu. Again, the prices are extremely good value, so you really don't need to go out to eat.
Finally, if you're looking for an unpretentious place, great value, full of character and the chance to experience true Bulgarian hospitality - this is it - The House!

First the bad: They didn't pick me up at the airport as promised so I took a taxi which was actually cheaper than they would have charged. They offered no explanation for not picking me up but did apologize. The room I stayed in the first night was in a separate area in the back downstairs. Don't stay in that room. The walls are paper thin and there was a party going on all night. I slept zero. The next night they gave me a nice upstairs in the main hotel and it was perfect. Big and quiet.

The good: The restaurant served delicious food. The service was fine. The hotel is right off Vitosha which is the main street so it is very convenient. The staff was excellent and Ivan was absolutely superb. A real pleasure to know. The price was very reasonable. The room was very comfortable.

The average: Breakfast.

It is a great hotel if you're on a budget. I would definitely stay here again.
