In general the Sofia Plaza hotel is a clean, quiet and nice hotel for a reasonable rate. Having breakfast in the small garden adds to the possitive experience. But besides that I had an interesting 'issue'.

I've booked the hotel via bookings.com the night before I would arrive. When I arrived at the hotel it turned out that my booking was not registered yet. So I've called bookings.com to have them explain that my booking was there and paid in advance. The staff of the hotel apologized for this (it probably was not their fault) and before they received the booking by email they already handed me over the key of my room and wished me a pleasant stay. I didn't even show my creditcard.

The next day I was leaving again but it was no problem for me to stay in the garden and drink a coffee and work on my laptop till about 3pm (hours after checking out). It would be great if all hotels would have staff like these guys.

Taxis are cheap there are different rated ones but still a lot cheaper than UK prices

Hotel is clean, tidy, i had a big room with big bed which was comfortable, aircon worked well in my room and there was a minibar though i didnt use that. Bathroom was quite big and fine and shower pressure was good.

Staff were friendly and helpful and got us a cab and gave any info we needed.

The one let down as per other reviews was the breakfast which was dire but there are plenty of other places to eat.

Took about 20 mins to walk to centre - got the tram one day which stops outside and cost 1 lev or you can get a day pass for 4 lev which covers all transport.

I used OK taxis to get to and from the airport which costs 15 to 20 lev max including tip - avoid other taxi firms as you could get ripped off and wind up paying 80 lev which is what happened to my mate!!!

All in all absolutely superb for the price, location and very friendly and helpful staff.
Nothing disappointed me. I recomend this hotel to anyone going to Sofia city.
Will be back if I have to go to Bulgaria again.
