“Nice and big”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The room i got in the hotel was very very big, once we opened the door I saw a not that small living room, in the right was the bathroom and in the left the door for the room. The room was nice and very well decorated. The staff was nice but the breakfast was very very poor, but near u find a lot of cafes with very cheap prices. The location is central but very very close to a 'cabaret' so if u have kids try to avoid the street in the left side of the hotel.

“Good location but otherwise only average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

I stayed at Scotty's recently as part of a Balkans group tour. The location is very central and convenient to all the major sights. This is probably the best reason why it's a good choice for a stay in Sofia. Our room (Rome) was smallish, spartan and decidedly average. Other rooms were bigger and much nicer (Capetown, Sydney) so your experience may depend on which room you get.

The staff were friendly enough and more than helpful when needed. I liked the fact that there was an internet terminal available on each floor, something quite rare at the budget end of the market.

The supplied breakfast (croissant & jam + coffee, delivered to the room) is very ordinary and should be avoided.

Room Tip: Capetown and the rooms with a balcony overlooking the street at the front (Sydney) are definitely be...

“Good Location, Good Room, Good Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Fine location in the heart of Sofia. It occupies the top four floors of a five floor building. No elevator.

The rooms are good sized (for a small hotel in the heart of a city) with somewhat quirky decoration. Friendly and helpful desk staff.

The continental breakfast served each day in your room is skimpy and lacks variety but tastes fine. Our room had a large balcony overlooking the street. Public computers are provided in the common hall on each floor.

The rooms have private baths no tub or shower stall--the room itself is the shower. Unusual mattresses--I could feel some sort of springs yet it was quite firm and comfortable.

A large variety of restaurants are in easy walking distance as are shopping districts and nearly all of the city attractions.

Excellent value compared to other hotels in the area.

“Excellent stay and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Scotty's Boutique is a modest property on a rather unassuming Sofia side street, but inside, down the hall and the up the stairs (no elevator here) is a fairly amazing hotel deal for the price. My room, the "Sofia" room, was a double, more spacious than necessary with bright, clean, and fairly uninspired decor, especially when compared to the safari-themed "Cape Town" room. The Sofia also had a bit more furniture than I'd been conditioned to expect from the other low-to-mid-range hotels in the Balkans: a coffee table, a chaise, an additional armchair -- and even with all the extra furniture, the space still felt airy and open. Breakfast was a bit sparse, it was a room-service tray with a lone croissant on it, if I remember correctly, but there's a major Sofia marketplace down the block with a wider array of breakfast choices. But that's my only complaint, and when I return to Sofia, Scotty's Boutique Hotel will definitely be my accommodation of choice.

Great location in Sofia - easy walking distance to all major sites. Clean modern rooms. Only downside is no lifts and very basic breakfast - but good value for the price.
