The other reviewers seem to forget this is a hostel and not a hotel, there is nothing wrong with the place, and I have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here 3 times, each time after travelling from the black sea, it doesn’t matter what time you turn up, the staff are always on hand and polite. You get your own room for 2 or 3 for about 25 Euros.. what more do you want?

It’s right in the centre of the city, McDonalds 30 seconds away, definitely would stay there again.

Booked this place for 3 nights on Expedia and pre-paid all of it. It was around $65 CDN per night. On Expedia they have themselves listed as "Internet Hotel". Not until we arrived did we discover that this is a hostel, and not a hotel.

We walk in the door and struggle to take the stairs up to the 2nd floor because there are no lights in the hallway or stairway. It's completely dark. We knock on the door and an older lady lets us in. She has my name listed on some kind of coil notepad, then asks to see my passport. Then she asks for more money, saying that I still need to pay more. This, of course, led to an argument. Ultimately, she gave us the key and led us upstairs to our room. She said the "owner" would be by the following day to speak with us, even though I proved to her on the computer that my email receipt said "paid in full".

We get led upstairs to our room and discover that our room only has 1 bed, even though I booked a room with 2. (We were 2 guys). Nonetheless, it's late at night so we are just happy to have a room at all.

The next morning a different older lady lets herself into the room while we are sleeping and starts telling us we need to pay more money. I tell her to come back later, which she does, and then I prove to her on my computer that the email from Expedia says "paid in full". She eventually leaves, but not in a good mood.

The following morning she lets herself into our room AGAIN while we are sleeping. This time she just wants to know if we have been smoking in the room. I say "no" and she leaves.

If you are going to Sofia (and you should, the women are gorgeous!) just pay the extra cash and stay at a hotel. If you insist on staying at the "Internet Hostel" after reading this, then you are a glutton for punishment.

P.S. not all was bad. They did have wireless in the rooms. Ask the lady for the password. I think the password was actually "password". It was a strong signal too and didn't disconnect. And the McDonald's 50 ft away was convenient.

We stayed here for a couple of nights. We had a double room which was clean, and had a tv. The ladies that look after the place are lovely and it is in a good location. BUT - the owner is only nice when he collects your money. The rest of the time he is unwelcoming and abrupt. The 'all you can eat' breakfast should be called 'all you can eat in 5 mins' because there are only 4 seats in the common area, so they get rid of you as quickly as possible. There was only one toilet/shower between about 10 people on our floor and you have to walk through the shower to get to the toilet (constantly dirty and wet floor). The common area is also right outside the room doors - so no such thing as a sleep in (or an early night!). I wouldn't stay here again.

The Internet Hostel in Sofia should be blacklisted or closed down. It is a shame for all those who try to offer tourists and backpackers accommodation at low and reasonable prices.The website offers English breakfast, croissants,shots in a nearby restaurants and a breakfast -eat as much as you like- but this is far from reality. Bread,margarin and cheese/jam and with a clear message that the staff decides how much breakfast you can have. No milk , juice ever unless you buy it from the nearest shop.The staff has closed down heating in all rooms to save money, but not in the kitchen where the staff spend most of the time with friends and family coming by. It does not give a better impression that one of the staff smokes marihuana every day. About the staff there is not much to say- extremely unpolity, rude and offensive to the guests. They do not seem to realize that their job is to service guests, and you definitively do not feel welcome as a guest, The list is long, but in short I would recommend any potential guest to find another hostel where they will be treated like guests and customers. In Internet hostel the guests should instead be paid to stay there!
