This hotel is fine, but not more than that. The room was well heated, and now has a comprehensive selection of TV channels. The small quilt under the bedspread that didn't fully cover the double bed was surprising, and the bathroom was particularly badly designed with nowhere to put even a small washbag. The shower screen was badly adapted to the tub (a folding model) and water floods the floor. An adequate but charmless room.

On the positive side, the staff were friendly, and even told me that I would have got a better rate calling the hotel rather than booking on the BestWestern site. Excellent Illy coffee at the bar, but not at breakfast.

I was looking for a good hotel that was conveniently located for site seeing and yet not very expensive. After considering several choices, I selected this hotel. I stayed here for 4 nights in September of 2011 and I have no regrets for selecting this hotel.

I made my pre-paid reservation on www.otel.com. Rate for single room with breakfast was $67/night.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is within 5 minute of walking distance. The hotel is loacted on a side street off Knyaz Alexander Dondukov on which you can hop on trams. I paid 10 leva for taxi from the airport. One can easily walk to all site seeing attractions and restaurants within the center from this hotel. There is a good Indian restaurant called Taj Mahal with in a block from the hotel.

The hotel is modern and well maintained. The lobby has an ATM machine and a bar. It has a business center with two computers and a printer. Use of computer is free of charge. The hotel's Italian restaurants has good choices of food and spirits but bit pricey.

My single room was on the third floor and I did not hear any street noise. Room was rather small for a 4 star hotel but well furnished. The bathroom had all toiletaries and towels. There was a programmable safe in the cupboard/closet. Maid service was also very good.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Gave me a map and the information for the site seeing. The bellboy brought my luggage and called a taxi for airport when I left. The taxi had the meter and I was charged correctly.

The buffet breakfast was good with many items to choose from.

The hotel is a nice 4 star one, only 100-200 meters from the Alexander Nevski, situated on 11-th August street, next to the Dondukov Boulevard (in case, that your taxi driver pretends not to know it). The staff is friendly and always with a smile, but the hotel manager is doing here something wrong. There are other prices for the parking (directly opposite of the hotel) at the small Kiosk on the parking area and at the reception. There are other prices, if you call them and negotiate about the room and on the Internet or if you appear there, with the suitcase. So, if you are travelling on business and have in mind to do a job, waste some time about those negotiations too. Something typical in Eastern Europe and in Bulgaria, ha ?

If you get any drinks at the bar, be careful and ask for a receipt, because during my stay, the prices without receipt were more expensive than with!!!!

Husband attended a conference recently , but when we arrived in Bulgaria sadly our luggage did not! Panic over the helpful reception staff advised us where to get to get emergency supplies of clothes etc. The next day Alex on reception chased the airport lost luggage for me and when it was found advised me that the best solution was to use the hotel transport to go to the airport with a bell boy to collect it personally, yes there was a fee for the car, but brilliant advice and to see my husbands face on the return of his suit etc , priceless! The hotel is ideally located for sightseeing and is well appointed with all mod cons. The in house Italian restaurant is very good too if you don't have time to find a restaurant . Service, choices and wine were excellent. Buffet breakfast was good too. Can't think of any negatives ! We had no complaints the 3 nights we stayed there.
