The Hotel Pliska is used by Bulgaria Air (boo) to accomodate passengers if their flight is cancelled due to it's close proximity to Sofia Airport. However due to being on the wrong side of the Motorway and misleading Bulgarian signage you may as well sleep 1 hour away in a tent. I have no idea why anyone would stay here through choice.

I am not fussy , all I require is a bed and a door that locks. Though there is a bed it is like trying to sleep on a rocking horse. That's if your brave enough to sleep on the faded off colour brown mattress and highly suspicous looking sheets. No worries though as the motorway is just outside and the roar of the traffic means you cant sleep anyway.

Your first problem will be getting to your room on the elevator of death. It apparently only lets one person out at a time and though there is another one it does not work. (Maybe it did once though only downwards at 50 mph). Upon exiting the lift please enjoy the most peculiar aroma that greets you and makes your eyes weep.

If your lonely it is good value though as the Cockroaches that emerge from the torture chamber (bathroom ) in the middle of the night will keep you company. I found the groans and creaking from the bathrooma a particular joy. Still what with the bright light from the Motoway illuminating the room I was able to see them bugs coming. ( Closing the Curtains resulted in them falling on my head )

There is a televison ( one of the first invented I believe) but as I was leaving the next day I did not want to be electrocuted and do not know if it worked. Car parking is available though at an overpriced 10lv per night in the street outside.

On the plus side the towels were clean (probably as no one ever showers there) and the staff at reception were very very helpful, perhaps out of embarrassment. You can get a bus into town which is very easy , a result really as the receptionist warned us chillingly that the Cab drivers can be "bad" men. Nice.

I would reccomend for couples who want to split up and never see each other again .
