“2010, Hotel BOSNIA has 4 stars. The hotel is not worth 4 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

The hotel is perfectly situated; it is a five minute walk away from the special, multi-cultural, old, authentic city centre.
It is such a pity that there are still so little tourists visiting this city.
This city is definitely worth a city trip!
At the back of the hotel there are (limited) guarded parking spaces available.
The main thing for us was, to have a guarded parking place!!

The hotel has 4 stars but only gets these for its luxurious entrée!

The rooms are good, but are in desperate need of some redecorating. The carpet is stained, lamps are out of order, etc.
Moreover, during our stay in 2009 and 2010 we came across some cockroaches in our room. This is not what you expect for a 4 star hotel.
The mattresses on the beds are quite hard but fine.

What bugged us the most is the smoking.
People and staff smoke everywhere. As soon as you leave your room you smell the smoke. Even your clean towels smell of smoke!!!!
The same goes for breakfast where there are a lot of people smoking around you.
You can’t find a smoke-free area in the hotel. This is not something you normally see nowadays and definitely not what you expect when booking a 4 star hotel.

In addition the breakfast buffet is horrendous!
Coffee and tea are put in kettles where they have cut the cords off.
It’s already starting to get cold and undrinkable at seven o ‘clock in the morning let alone at ten!
Same goes for the fried eggs and the (already cold) boiled eggs, bread and the sandwich fillings! Not only is everything already cold it has been put in a smoky area for over three hours!

In 2009 we had the same experience with the air conditioning, our room was fixed at 25 C, which is to warm for sleeping.
The first time 2009 we were told it could not be changed. The second and third time we asked about the room temperature the desk staff told us it would be fixed right away, but when we returned to our rooms, the thermostats were still fixed at 25 C. In 2010 it was still the same!!
It is safe to say we haven’t eaten in the hotel.
We didn’t no, if it was possible. We saw only big special groups. In the city there are plenty of more attractive and authentic places you can eat.

But we recommended Sarajevo!

“Good location, hot rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

Pluses: central location, nicely appointed rooms, good breakfast.
Minuses: rooms are too warm in summer; staff unable to fix room problems (see below)

The air conditioning in my room was fixed at 25 C, which is warm for sleeping, and was much warmer than the nighttime air outside and warmer than the nicely cooled hotel lobby. I had a hard time sleeping because of the heat (I come from a cold climate). My two friends, who also each had their own room, also complained that they had troubles sleeping because of the room temperature. We inquired three separate times about getting the thermostats adjusted to a lower temperature. The first time we were told it could not be changed. The second and third time we asked about the room temperature the desk staff told us it would be fixed right away, but when we returned to our rooms, the thermostats were still fixed at 25 C. My last night at the hotel I slept much better because I rearranged the furniture so that I could open the window and cool off the room. I want to like this hotel, and for people who like sleeping in warm rooms, I think this hotel is a good choice.

“Hotel Bosnia's heroic service given to a wedding party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

I am slightly late with this review as we have stayed in Hotel Bosnia in 2008. I believe that the hotel was fully refurbished in 2009, so I cannot comment on the current facilities. However, I will always be grateful to Hotel Bosnia for all their amazing help:

Well where do I start: My partner and I decided to get married in Sarajevo (a highly recommended experience in itself) and have stayed here along with more that 30 of our guests that have flown in from various parts of the world.
Firstly, the hotel (that specialises in weddings) provided us with a great group discount and was excellent value for money.
Secondly, they we nothing but heroic with the amazing customer services they provided to our large and demanding group. Nothing was too much trouble. The lovely lady at the reception even helped me find a great hairdresser for the wedding and various other often random bits and pieces (as none of us were actually familiar with Sarajevo). In fact all of the staff have gone above and beyond the call of duty and were always on hand.

The hotel location is the best in Sarajevo; just off the Sarajevo central road and not even 5 minutes walk to the old town, around the corner from the best Sarajevo bars and restaurants.
The facilities, at the time, were slightly dated. But as mentioned previously they have renovated the hotel throughout. The hotel has a charming atrium garden where the breakfast (plentiful and good) is taken and where the weddings take place.

This hotel is a perfect, friendly and welcoming place to stay in the beautiful and inspiring Sarajevo.

“Excellent Hotel and Centrally Located”

I spent six nights in Sarajevo on business during which time we held a training seminar inside the Hotel Bosnia. The facilities were excellent for the small group of 26, and the meals, service were all very good.
Perhaps what was especially positive was the fact that the hotel is so centrally located, only a few minutes from the Old Town, churches, the river, and one of the nicest general post offices I've been to in Europe!
