“disapointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

i went there with my friends to celebrate new years eve!
i was so disapointed when i found out where will we be seatled down!
the only good thing is we were close to the center, max 10 min by walk, but every other thing it was a disaster! we were in som basement room, 5 of us! it was too fu***** cold! the toilet was in the other 'bilding so in the midlle of the night we had to go in our pijamas outside to wlak in another building for toilet!! our friend who stayed as well in this hostel, but they got later, they had a 'room' at the top of the other bilding, in some coridor, they didnt even had theyre own doors to lock! disaster! it is cheap because it has nothnig to serve fr you! its 10 euros for night and is still too expensive for a place like that! dont go there!

“Nice city, nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

We stayed for 3 days and the stay was really enjoyable. We had no problems whatsoever either with the owners or with other guests. The hostel really lacks parking space, but the owners agreed to let us park our rented car inside the fenced area with no extra charge. As for the location, it's not right in the very center (about a ten-munite walk up the hill), but it's not a problem. We had a nice private room at the top, so we had a beautiful view of the city and could hear the muezzins calling from the minarets in the morning and in the evening which was extremely nice.
We were really surprised to read these negative reviews here and can say that our experience was quite positive and we have nothing but good impressions of our stay in Sarajevo.

“Keep well clear of this place.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

We rang the hostel in advance of our arrival in Sarajevo. On our arrival it took almost an hour and a half for us (3 females) to check in as we were completely ignored while the owener was on the phone and talking to his father. We also didn't have a good feel about the place as it was down quite a number of dark streets.

After quite a bit of huffing and puffing on our part, about how rude the service was, the owener decided that he didn't want us staying at the hostel and kicked us out on the street at 9.30pm. As we had no where to go we rang another hostel from the front of Sartour hostel, as there were no other lights anywhere on the street. The owner then came out and decided to physically pushed me around and threatened me in order to remove us from his street.... This resulted in us making a police report on the owner as suggested by a Bosnian local we met. The police were fab in dealing with the situation.

“great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2010

We had a very pleasant stay, camping in the garden. We learned a lot about the city and its past by lengthy and interesting conversations we had with the owners. This, and their invitation to join themfor bosnian coffee and 'schnaps' made the experience very personable.

“Great, safe and clean place to enjoy Sarajevo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

I stayed with my girlfriend in Sarajevo last July in the second Sartour building in Sarajevo's Marjin Dvor district. I had a great time and simply cannot believe the previous comment. The place was clean, quiet, safe and private. Yes, my girlfriend and I gave our passports at the beginning of our month long stay, but that is what they ask of everybody. Ismet (the father), and Mirza and Sead (the sons) were always friendly and attentive to our needs. They were definitely exemplary of Bosnia's traditional hospitality. They NEVER disturbed anyone's privacy without good reason (like if some people started a party). Their Marjin Dvor building is in a rather posh area and the neighbors would definitely complain if there was any noise. It is true you cannot easily get wifi in the building but Sartour was upfront about it from the very beginning and told me of a cafe 50 meters away where I got service. This is not a five-star hotel but they never pretend to be. BUT it is a great, little hostel at a very affordable price. Be assured that the owners maintain safe, affordable rooms at very reasonable rates.
