“Great hotel, great location, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2011

I have stayed at this hotel on business and I chose it mainly because of it's location (I didn't know much about it before I came). It was my first time in Sarajevo and the staff was very friendly and helping me get around with maps and advices. The position of the hotel is great since it is 5min walk away from the center, and yet quiet and peaceful during the night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling on business, or leisure.

“Great stay!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

I chose to stay in this hotel because of its excellent location and reasonable prices. And I did not made a mistake.
Location - great, prices for the value - great! The rooms are pretty much basic and averagely equipped but bright and clean which is important for me. Although my reservation was for a single room, I got a double room with a big bed for the price of a single room. Bathroom was ok, clean with clean towels every day.
I didn't bother having breakfast in the hotel, Bosnian food in Baščaršija should not be missed - cheap and tasty.
The reception staff was quite friendly, especially the guy, and due to their suggestions my stay in Sarajevo was extra fun!
Internet was free, parking was too.
Going there again!

“Possibly the worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

I booked two rooms at Hayat this August and the experience was horrible, both for me and my companions.
The room was relatively spacious, but the bed was extremely uncomfortable, it had dirty walls (water stains, anyone?), broken lamps, a broken door lock, and of course - no AC.

The place is incredibly loud. I was up all night listening to other guests banging their doors, talking, watching TV, etc. In addition, my room was located right next to somebody's front door, so I could hear not only hotel guests but the neighbors, their guests and their cat.

Don't even get me started on the bathroom. EVERYTHING was broken in it. The most unpleasant thing was the toilet- it was leaking so there was water everywhere. I dare you to try and blow dry your hair when the floor is completely covered in water.

My brother who had a one bedroom on the 2nd floor, didn't even get shower gels or clean towels!

Breakfast is not worth it, just go somewhere else.

Really, the only good thing about this hotel was the handsome receptionist.

“Don't expect too much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

Because my favorite hotel in Sarajevo - the Hecco - had no room available, I stayed in Hayat for the first time. I would stay there again, but now know what not to expect. First of all, I didn't have the impression the staff was actually happy to welcome guests. There were hairs - not mine - on the pillow and I was wondering if the pillow case and blankets had been changed at all. The room itself was tiny, in the bathroom you can sit on the toilet and brush your teeth over the sink. You pay extra for coffee in the morning. The breakfast is ridiculous. The parking garage consists of exactly two parking spots. Don't expect to get out there. Everybody is parking in front of it and it might take hours until the owners are found and remove their cars.

The walls are thin, btw. Bring ear plugs.

As a single traveller I paid 35 Euros per night. It's ok for what you get on the Balkans and for what I expected (not too clean, but not dirty; warm water coming from the shower with a reasonable pressure)

Location is good, very close to the old town.
