Rooms: very clean, like your home design, fridge provided, washroom clean. a/c and heating provided.

Breakfast: some days were cold but in general egg & toast, juice, tart, feta cheese... tea / coffee ( turkish coffee, if you want nescaffee just mention it, dont say coffee). There is a daily farmers market in the street, bakery shop, meat/cheese shop, convinience shop just outside of hotel so you can make some shopping for your suppers to save money. cross the road restaurant you can eat standard kebabs or so. Price 400-1000Lek. (aprox. 1 US Dollar 85 Lek)

Room service: very nice, they give you whatever you want.. and fast..

Downsizes: Electric shutdowns were bigproblem in tirana. so motel has generator but for lighting only.

Price: US $40 per night for 2 people for 7 days deal. king size bed, not bad!!! he may offer you, cheap taxi service,if he is not busy...

Taxis: expensive. small distance 400Lek. if you gonna return then dont pay double offer 1.5 times of going rate.

TIPS: Before you arrive tirana airport, phone owner (Kootim)and tell him to pick you up. and pay him 4000Lek with return promise. Otherwise taxis in airport one way charging 5000Lek or 30 euro.

Security: Pretty secure in motel, steel doors 24/hours controlled so no one can come in to motel area. dont go overnight, call taxi for night clubs. receptionist will help you..

Night clubs: all of them 10min to motel. Called 'block' area. 400-500Lek one way ticket. weekends only.

Internet caffee: nearest one, just go out from motel, cross the road and turn right and lefton mian street, next street turn left 50m. next to grocery shop, opposite kodak studio.

A decent little hotel about 15 mins walk from Skandenburg Square. The area is described in the Bradt guide as unsafe but, even though it was a little dark, we had no problems at all - the area is being refurbished but it is a little scuzzy (compared to the Block, for instance).

The hotel is shoehorned amongst apartment blocks and is kept clean and pleasant. The outdoor space advertised is non-existent and there are no public areas except for the pleasant breakfast room.

The owners are friendly but did try to overcharge us on the last day. It may have been an error but I had to go to an internet cafe and print out the confirmation email to "prove" that I would only pay the quoted price - which was $40 per room per night: not cheap in a city where a main course in a top end restaurant comes in at about $6.

The rooms themselves were not great: they were clean and moderately spacious but the beds were not the most comfortable and the blanket was not quite big enough on the double to cover 2 people. The shower was more of a tepid water dribble, but we had been warned to expect this in Tirana.

The breakfast was a mixed bag: the cakes were lovely, the coffee was not.

Recommended with reservation but definitely try to negotiate the price down before staying

Located in a walking distance from the main square, Hotel Haxhiu offers the comfort you are looking for. Magnificant service, very quiet and well furnished rooms, air conditioning and bathroom in the room, mini bar and tv set, plenty of food and fruits for breakfast, and all included in a value for money price of 40 USD for double room.

I strongly advise you to stay in this Hotel.
