“Good Service, Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We spent several nights here in Dec 2011 and Jan 2012 as it was the beginning and end of our tour in Albania. The first stop, the first night, was fine. We had nice rooms and overlooked the main square. The second night, there was a party happening in the 2nd floor restaurant. We could hear the music quite loudly in our 8th floor rooms. When we asked if there was anything to be done, they came and offered us different rooms on the 8th floor and when they proved to be just as noisy, they took us up to the 12th floor and put us in rooms as far from the noise as they could so we were able to get a good nights sleep. This was "do-able' because we were pretty much the only people staying in the hotel. So I am not sure what they could have done had the hotel been full but they were willing to help us as much as they could and were quite nice about it and very concerned that we have a good stay. When we returned for the last night of our holiday, we came back to Tirana International. The desk clerks, the restaurant people all remembered us and remembered what we liked to drink with our breakfast and remembered to give us the quietest room they had. very nice place to stay and very nice people working there.

Room Tip: quieter rooms are on higher floors and away from the main square. You will still probably hear the...

“Good for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

This hotel has the feel of many international hotels but with a less money to spend on décor. Staff friendly and helpful, room large, clean and comfortable enough overlooking main square where reconstruction has stopped and Christmas decorations are up. Variety of food on offer at the breakfast buffet including some lovely dark brown rolls and baby oranges. Ate one night in the restaurant food which was fine, fairly basic and relatively cheap. If you are visiting Tirana do save sometime for a visit up Dajti cable car, the ride alone is worth it and the view at the top of Dajti Mountain is impressive. Go in the morning if you can to get a clearer view and avoid the sun in your eyes.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the square have a great view, but the traffick can wake you early so pack earplugs...

“Good for short stays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Spent one night there -- the room had a good view of the central sqare, which is, however, undergoing huge contruction work. Wi-fi was really slow and alost useless, although is in the offer, for all the rooms.

Bathrooms should be renovated.

Staff is not very skillful.

Advice is to pick a hotel in Bloku, Tirana's "heart of the city", and not this one.

“Good commercial hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We were on a month-long tour of The Adriatic and Albania/Macedonia with Adventures Abroad. We stayed here one night at the beginning of our Albania/Macedonia tour and one night at the end. The rooms are small but we had no problem finding a place for our suitcases. The towels and pillows were fine, which is always unexpected when traveling. The breakfast buffet was good. The main square was undergoing a reconstruction and walking around was treacherous although when we returned to Tirana 10 days later the situation around the square had improved somewhat. Beware of the traffic when crossing the street anywhere in Tirana as cars don't stop and you take your life in your hands.

“3 stars, not 4”

It wasn't very often that I would travel to Europe on business, let alone to Tirana! As a once-in-a-lifetime thing, it was an eye opener for me and I enjoyed the experience tremendously. However, I would give the Tirana International 3 stars, not 4 like I've seen in some promotional materials. I attended a conference there and the business facility and service were of professional quality. We also hosted a luncheon and Happy Hour, and the hors d'oeuvres served were delicious. The booze was decent. The free Internet access was a nice touch.

Now here are the Cons. Dinners served in the main restaurant were only so-so. The maitre'de and the waiters were very slow even though the restaurant was practically empty. The room was clean but small. The front desk staff were either cheerful or outright hostile. Sure, I also get the same flippant treatment sometimes in Manhattan, New York, but this is more of ex-Communism paranoia, in my opinion.

Hence, my 3-star rating. Cheers,
