Really nice place in heart of Tirana. Great people own it:)

I stayed on my own in a two-bed hotel-standard room with its own bathroom. The price is amazing by western-European standards. Though this was the first ever hotel where I stayed in Albania, I had no problem to make myself understood. In the room where the computers are there is a place to meet other travelers. Location is good, right between the railway station and the airport bus stop. (Note that the nicer parts of the city center are south of the nearby Skanderbeg Square).
The only negative aspect is the breakfast: a plastic cup of tea and an "always fresh" croissant in plastic.

Freddy's hostel,in the "hearth" of Tirana,(near Scanderberg square),is a hostel where you can stay at maximimu in 3 people in one room,and have a bathrooms,with showers inside,and for me is the first time where in one hostel every day change linen(one plus).Also TV inside the rooms.The best value for your money in Tirana.Address: Bardok Biba 75, tel. 00355682035231.

I did not like this hostel at all. The room itself was fine - three bed dorm (no bunks) and an ensuite (which could have been a bit cleaner but wasn't too bad).
There wasn't any common area to meet people though, and I was in a separate building from the reception and the computers.
My main issue was that no-one at the hostel spoke English. This would usually just be a minor inconvenience, part of the fun of travelling, but in Tirana it was a major problem. Throughout Albania, there are no bus stations, timetables, tourist information or any way of finding out how to get to your next destination. All through my trip I had relied on my hostel to inform me of how to get around - but there was absolutely nothing here. I disliked the hostel so much that I decided to cancel my second night stay - but I couldn't even explain that to the staff!
Also, it was very noisy and there were flocks of mosquitoes.
In terms of location, it is OK. There is nothing much to see or do in Tirana, so it's not really near anything.
