“Lovely, friendly place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

The hotel, rooms and public areas are beautiful -- designed with style and comfort in mind. Rooms are spacious and the swimming pool is gorgeous. The food is quite good as well. The staff could not have been nicer. A couple of quibbles: wi-fi is available near Reception only, and it's maddeningly slow (less the fault of the hotel than a general issue on the island), and I wish they'd do a better job of mosquito-proofing the public areas at night. Pack a lot of insect repellent! But overall, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else on Sao Tome.

“Excellent boutique hotel on a beautiful island”

I stayed in Omali Lodge this summer and it was the perfect base to explore the island. The friendly staff helps to organize your excursions and speak multiple languages. Also spacious and luxurious rooms and great food. Good seafood but also loved the curries!

“Nice rooms but poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

They did not meet me up at the airport as promised, so I had to wait there until someone took pity on me and asked where I was going. My room service order was repeatedly bungled because the staff member could not understand English. The price for breakfast was ridiculous.

“Beware the exchange rate scam!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2010

The hotel is decent, but if you are using USD beware the exchange rate that the hotel uses. Our stay we were quoted in EURO, but when I asked If I could pay in USD, I was told yes, but the rate they used was a month old rate that was in their favor. The exchange rate was 1 EURO= $1.37, but they charged me 1 EUR = $1.53. In the end my total cost was $100 more, just because the exchange rate. When I asked to speak with manager, he wouldn't come out, because they were operating outside the law. It was illegal what they were doing. If you have to stay there, pay them in EURO or local currency.

“Beautiful country but be aware with the robbery in the beaches”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2010

The hotel is fine. Much better than Miramar and more friendly than Pestana. Is has a nice exterior garden and the rooms are pretty much acceptable. The week point is that the breakfast is a little limited in variety for a 4 stars but we can live with that. It is very well positioned in the beach of lagarto. I recommend you this hotel.

When you go to the beach, be careful with your things. When i went to the beach of Tamarinos ( near Guadalupe ) i was robed. While i went to the water with my wife, a man jumps from behind of the trees and takes my bag with everything ( PDA cell phone, photo machine, books, etc, etc) fortunately i didn’t have my wallet in there ( i leave it in the car).
