We have had to stay at the Knights Inn in Ashland KY periodically for several years. The rooms were not great to start with and have been getting worse. We've always had a king non-smoking room, today they supposedly were out of those rooms (yet parking lot is only about 30% full) and we were forced to pay another $20+ for a jacuzzi room. I consoled myself that it would probably be a much nicer room with less wear because it would not be one that was rented as often, as the others are often rented to construction workers while in town. I was SO wrong!
The room stinks. The safety latch has been broken off the door. Holes in the curtains, wallpaper on all sides of tyhe room peeling at each seam, a hole in the wall, one ceiling light broken with no cover and no light bulb, the other ceiling light full of bugs insde. Wall lights have crumpled broken shades. The bed has a very deep hollow on the TV side, when you sit on the headboard end of the bed the foot of the bed flies up. Pillows are flat, hard and lumpy. The grates on the front of the air/heat unit are broken off. The bedspread has burn holes in it, as does the thin cheap blanket. There are no hangers on the rack. There is an iron, but no ironing board. The jacuzzi tub has a wide ring around the tub at the high water line, there is no way I'm getting into that thing! And there was a large black bug on the ceiling over the window and one on the floor that I've found so far. I am appalled that they charge this kind of price for a "premium" room when it is in such a dreadful state of disrepair. At least in this room, unlike the one a couple we had a couple of weeks ago, you can't see daylight below and down the side of the outside door.
They should be embarrassed to have people see these rooms. But nothing has been fixed or upgraded in the last several years, so I doubt anything is going to change in the near future. They must figure that people will stay regardless of how dilapidated they allow it to become. Next time we will stay at one of the nicer hotels, which we could have for what this jacuzzi room cost us.
