I stayed at the Ashland Plaza Hotel for a work conference. Before I got there I read the reviews on tripadvisor and I was expecting the place to be a dump baseded on what I read. I was worried because I am very picky about the hotel rooms I stay in. I got there and the place was not nearly as bad as the reviews. My room was clean and the hotel was not bad at all. I would stay again.

Would never stay here again! Housekeeping staff has thieves. They went through our suitcase, a makeup bag and the drawers we had clothing in. They stole jewelry, makeup, medication, and other things from our room. Hotel will NOT be responsible for anything taken from the room by THEIR housekeepers that THEY provide a key to for entrance to your room. Hotel does not provide an in-room safe to store any valuables.

Stayed here for a business trip and am more lenient than a personal stay - but this is too much. Hotel always appears empty, lights are off inside, dirty elevators, hot halls, uncomfortable beds, restaurant closed down, and no air vents in bathrooms.

Only positive is AC worked in room.

Hotel appears to be gasping for it's last breath.

The Wife and I stayed over the weekend of the 5 of august... we had wanted to stay for two nights but left in the middle of the nigh to early morning.
1. I could not get into the bed.. the bed was real hight and I could not get from the scooter or even using crutches.. I tride for over an hour trying a to figure a way to get into bed... I even looked at another room .just the same.

2. The tube did not have a tube seat...

3. the rooms are advertised to have a microwave and refrigerator my roo did not and the other room I checked out did not... so they lied on that pure and simple....

4. they do not have any on site food service....a small bar on the 2nd floor maybe 8 seats at bar...and smoking patio is located away from the bar but does not have a ramp to get to it... it has a step down....

All said and done I had no sleep we called the kids that live near and had them come down at 5 in the morning to help load the van up and get the scooter loaded in as I made it to the drivers seat... We had about a 135 mile trip to go home.... I was fit to be tired.. after several stops and rain... we made it back about 9:30 this morning.. I set up the oxygen machine and cpap and went to bed.. I got up about 7:15 PM in the evening...

if going to the Ashland area I would go to the Best Western.. this was the place I stayed before.. the Handicap rooms are set up nice.. even had a giant lazy bog chair to relax in....the bed is nice to get into.. it is about the same height as a regular hope double bed.. even for a short legged person.. just sit down and swing in....I was trying to there but they were sold out....

summation.. The Plaza sucks big time....and the price is about the same between the to places.. plus Western give 10% discount AAA and the plaza only 5% discount....
