I don't know if it was the horrible experience we had with our first stop in Gatlinburg on our way to Kentucky, but we loved this Best Western! We don't normally select Best Westerns when travelling but this stay may change our selections in the future...

We chose it primarily because it was 'pet friendly' and it's location to our family that we were visiting for a few days. We stayed two nights. There was NO pet odor, no evidence that other pets had stayed in the room. The room was clean, the bed comfy, many pillows (I always like extra pillows in a hotel!), clean facilities, pleasant staff and great breakfasts!

The only negative was that the door to the outside (we were on the first floor at the end of the hall near the pool) did not work with re-entry using the room card (we alerted the front desk but nothing was done to repair it) but that was ok. You could get out but you couldn't get back in! I normally like to use the side entries like that to take my pets out for a walk so I don't have to parade them through the lobby each time...

Also, the location is convenient (Super WalMart is right down the street) but the hotel is right across the street from AK Steel Mill, which did not bother us at all. You cannot hear the surroundings while inside the room.

All in all, a very pleasant, comfortable experience. We would definitely stay there again!

My wife and I returned to our hometown to visit for the holiday. Not much to say...the bed was comfortable, it was relatively quiet, and the freee breakfast was good. One mark off for this hotel was the wi-fi did not extend to the end of the hall where our room was. We had to go to the lobby to use the net, but there was plenty of comfy furniture, so no big deal really, for me. Other thoughts, this place is fine for travel of short stays or passing through. It isn't much of a destination in it's self. It sits in the middle of a shopping area and not much to do immediately around the hotel.

Stayed here with 2 teenage grandchildren from W. Va. after seeing the Ashland holiday parade, where we spent 2 hours watching the colorful floats, with live animals and many marching bands. We're come from N.Y. for the past three years to see it. Decided to spend the night here and the room was well furnished and clean and the staff very friendly and efficient. Washer dryer for guests. Free guest internet service in the business center.The free breakfast was the best we've ever had at a motel and included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, danish. biscuits and gravy and even cappuchino coffee! Would definitely stay here again!

BIG PROBLEM - they do not inforce non-smoking. If you use the laundry facilitiy or computer room there are ashes and a very heavy smoke filled air. NO way of removing odor or bad quality air. Reported it on a six day stay nothing was done about it. But Oh well we will look into it. Hotel is very clean and they are friendly but don't expect them to clean up their air quality.
