This was a good place to stay for two nights in Papeete. Our 4th floor room was simple but comfortable, with efficient air conditioning and a wonderful view of the harbour and Moorea. Traffic passes constantly outside, but we did not find it a problem - with the windows closed it could barely be heard and the noise was tolerable on the balcony, perhaps because we were on an upper floor. The hotel is within easy walking distance of everything in central Papeete. This is not fancy accommodation but it suited our requirements very well.

Tiare Tahiti Hotel is in a great location only 4 miles from the Tahiti-Faaa Airport and directly across from the Waterfront Promenade. Our group of 4 booked a Seaview Room and booking directly with the hotel we received a rate of about $140.00 US. It will be a little higher for just one room. Although it is a very basic hotel, it was clean and the view of the harbor was great! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone with an overnight stay.

There is nothing particularly bad about the condition of this hotel and the location is good.

Our problem was with the hotel management. After spending a night at the hotel when we arrived in Tahiti, we went on to Moorea for a few nights. We returned to Tahiti for a 3 a.m. flight and needed a place to store our suitcases from about 5 pm to 2 am. Before leaving for Moorea, we asked the receptionist at the hotel if we could store them there and she said "yes, at no cost" since we were guests the previous night.

After our trip to Moorea, we returned to this hotel with all of our bags and they refused to store them. We offered to pay a fee and when this didn't work, we asked to speak to the manager who happened to be on site. She was extremely rude and confrontational and told us we were out of luck. She was completely irrational in that she told us it was a security concern, but that if we had stayed there the night before (when we were in Moorea) she could have stored them for us.

While this may seem petty, it made for a difficult night having to spend several hours in a city like Papeete with a family of four and lots of luggage to drag around.

This manager's attitude was terrible and, as a result, I would not recommend this location.
