“Remote Location”

The first thing that must be said is that this hotel looks better on its website than it is in reality! We booked this accommodation because it was cheap by Tahiti standards and we were satisfied with the service we received for the price we paid.

The private bungalows are lovely. They all contain two double beds, an ensuite bathroom and overlook the sea directly. There is a fine swimming pool on site as well as a restaurant. There were cockroaches in our bathroom at night, however, as well as geckos in our bedroom, but this is to be expected on a tropical island! Mosquito repelling devices are provided in the rooms.

The main disadvantage of this accommodation is it's location, over an hours walk from the nearest village, Taravao. There is nothing to do nearby and buses run to the village only before 7am. There is nothing to do in Taravao anyway! So stay at this place if you are happy to spend all day reading, playing board games (which are provided) and doing nothing!

  • Liked — Good value
  • Disliked — Very remote location and nothing to do!

“Nice average family pension”

I stayed here for 4 nights end of May 2006. the whole area of the " village" which is 4 sigle bungalows and a liitle house with 4 rooms is well taken care of. the garden is green and well cared for. I was in one of the single rooms. They were always cleaned, they are big, no air conditioning, but a fan. very nice place to come and go whenever you want ( with a car). The pool is small but , is a ncie refresher after a hot day and taken care of. If you are on budget, but want to rent a car this is a perfect base. ( single rooms have no fridge FYI)

“great place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2005

i stayed at punatea village on iti for 4 glorius days with NO problems..the
bungalows are detached/and have all the amenities except for air conditioning..the bed was very comfortable and there was ample air circulation anyway, and plenty of room. there was maybe one or two other people at the
resort when i was there so i had a sense of privacy.

the swimming pool, although small was nice, and there is a lagoon in front of most of the bungalows where you can swim and relax.the lagoon is very warm
and inviting with a natural barrier between the lagoon and the resort.
the mesquitos are around so bring protection. the room is beautiful and spotless and there is a cafe on premisis that serves on the weekends...
this is a great spot to relax, for honeymoons, for scuba, for a remote area
that isn't visited very often...the iti area is reknown for it's remote-ness,surfing,and diving.
