“Superb, truly paradise on earth!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

My colleagues had told me how wonderful this hotel is but it truly blew me away. I was only there a short time but the staff still treated me with the utmost respect and courtesy. The facilities were absolutely superb, my room was colossal, luxurious, supremely comfortable. The restaurant and entertainment were superb, just the right amount of local colour and flavour.
My New Year's resolution is to return there for a leisurely holiday. I struggle to find anything at all that was average - EVERYTHING about it was heavenly. The staff are to be commended for their superb customer service. SIX STARS! ******

“Just an average”

We took a reward night and were rather disappointed - they left an ashtray with cigarettes on the bed table(!), half bottleof water in minibar... We asked for help with luggage at check out - after 30 minutes waiting had to take our suitcases ourselves. Hotel does not have business Center - just one Lap Top for guests in the lobby ,that is very uncomfortable. You pay for Internet even being a Starwood Preferred Guest. Looks like Hotel does not have enough staff to provide guests with good polynesian Service!

Room Tip: Ask them to double check whether Your room is cleaned!

“Needs Improvements. Not a 4 Star Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My family and I stayed one night (December 18, 2011) after the Air Tahiti flight from LA. We used points to stay the night then we took the ferry to the Moorea Hilton the next day. The two rooms we had were OK. They were clean, comfortable beds and the air condtioning was good. The hotel staff did not seem to know what was going on with our reservations. They had 3 rooms reserved. We had our confirmation for 2 rooms. Not 3 rooms. We had asked for connecting rooms and the front desk assured us that the rooms were connected. Well...they were not connected. Just next to each other. We were too tired to complain so we crashed for the night. The front desk check-in guy used my credit card to pay another persons bill by accident. I asked for a credit and they could not give it to me until the next day because the accounting department person that gives credit card (credits) was not working at midnight). The employee said he was sorry that he used my credit card by accident. How does that happen??? Credit cards are suppose to be kept confidential and secure when you stay at a hotel. Especially a 4 star resort. They gave me a piece of paper that showed their mistake. It was hand written. I was not pleased that I had to wait 10 days until I could get my credit on my credit card.

The next day we took the ferry to the Hilton at Moorea for 3 nights (nice place!) and then we took the ferry back to Papeete to get on a 7 night cruise. We got off the cruise and we went back to the Le Meridian for 2 nights. We used points and got a suite and a deluxe room next to each other. The air condtioning did not work real well in the suite. I asked the hotel to look at it. They worked on it it but the air did not get any cooler. I think the fan was worn out. The room was not really cool and comfortable. We just had to deal with it and get through it. One of our rooms did not have towels. We had to call for towels. The plasma TV remote did not work right. I asked for help and the hotel repair man brought us a new remote. It still would not work. It was not user friendly. I'm not stupid when it comes to operating a TV. We gave up after an hour or so. Every time we would turn it on it went into some weird input mode and I had to go into the menu and try to switch the setting to HDMI 1. Then I had to push buttons and try to get the main screen to pop up. To top it off all of the language was in french. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and I have never had a problem with a TV like this one.

Overall the rooms were clean and comfortable. I think the hotel is tired and needs some upgrades. I won't even start on the food. All I can say is that the food is average and some of it is below average. It is not worth $30-40 per person to eat a small bowl of pasta that does not taste good. The salads were below average. I complained about our evening meal and the assistant manager discounted the meal 50% for us. I think they need a new chef with some new recepes. The breakfast is not so great either. Be prepared to spend $20 for 3 little pancakes or you can purchase the continental for $30 per person. The selection for the continental breakfast was average. I have had better food at a Super 8 Motel continental breakfast then this place. I don't mind spending money for good food. I expected more because of the hotel rating. It is not a 4 star hotel in my opinion. We stayed at the Hilton in Moorea and it is a 4 star. The Hilton was more modern and the food was better than the Le Meridien.

I finally got my credit on my credit card the day before we were scheduled to fly home. I had to ask for the credit 3 or 4 times. When I went down to the lobby to get my credit, the account dept lady had no clue about my mix up and I had to explain it all over again to her. You would think that she would have had it ready to go since they made the error.

If you stay there, try to request your rooms away from the barking dog property. Their is a private property to the north and the dogs bark all of the time. It gets annoying when you include the roosters crowing and dogs barking.

The pool was nice and the beach was OK. The property was clean. They are really protective with their towels. You have to check them out and return them. That was not a problem. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Stay away from the north side. It borders a private property with barking dogs.

“good location, nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Only stayed one night here, but it was a nice hotel. Good for an overnight from airport. Hotel was clean, but the room numbers were confusing the way they were layed out. I think it went odd to one side and even to the other side. Either way, the view we had was nice, and there is a huge koi pond on top of the lobby roof, you can watch it from your room. Pool area was nice and clean and a large area. Beach area was nice, small but clean. Property was also kept clean. Rooms were very clean. Took about 2 hrs and 3 phone calls to get extra towels at one point, but that was the only issue. Breakfast layout was huge, lots of choices and really good food. Lunch was good as well. The staff was also very friendly.

Room Tip: i think all rooms have an ocean view, not entirely sure about that, but a room with views of the koi...

“Fantastic service- great overwater bungalow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We stayed at Le Meridien for 2 separate nights over Christmas while on our way to and from Moorea. The first night we were in a basic room in the main building. It was very modern, clean and comfortable. The second night we had booked an overwater bungalow which wasn't available when we arrived. Julien at the front desk gave us the "Presidential Suite" for the afternoon until our room was ready. He spent a lot of time with us making sure we were happy with our accommodations. Our overwater bungalow was very romantic, well-appointed, with a deck and sunset view. There was a half bottle of champagne and homemade cookies in our room when we arrived. Many of the walls are actually slats that can be opened to the fresh air and ocean breezes. It has a separate luggage room/closet and a large bathroom.

As other reviewers have noted, the snorkeling off the beach at this hotel is amazing and the sand bottom pool is unique.

We were treated very well by all the staff we met and we would definitely return.
