The Suva Motor Inn is a great, middle-of-the-road hotel in the capital Suva.
Suva is not a place to go for the beach on Fiji. Suva has mud-flats and a fairly average polluted port. But . . . it is beautiful otherwise. And the Suva Motor Inn is where I stay on business in Fiji.
It is clean, safe, and the staff are among the most friendly and helpful that I have found in the islands. It is right off the edge of the main city park, a bit away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
If you want 5-star, beach resort, this is not it.
If you want basic comfort, with reliable service and safety, along with a smaller swimming pool, then this is your place.
If you want an affordable place for small business conferences (under 25), with a restaurant, then this is the place as well.
Some of the things that could be better . . .
Double beds could be replaced by queen or king size.
More lights in the center of the room ceilings. The rooms can feel dark.
Incandescent lights instead of those new, ugly, "energy-saving" ones.
In-room safes would be nice. (presently there are none)
If they changed the lights at the head of the bed, that would be great. Presently, one
cannot sit up in bed and read because the light-sill above the bed prevents this.
An elevator would be nice. Presently there is none.
The Suva Motor Inn has just become a part of the Best Western chain. As a result of this, there should be some major upgrades within the next three years.
