“This was my least favorite hotel while staying in Fiji.”

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights but tried to move after the first night. There wasn't anything else available in the area as it was around a holiday. Perhaps the celebration is why there were people walking noisely on the walkway outside our room at all hours of the first night.

The front office staff was nice enough but the room needed work. The restaurant was OK for breakfast but the service was extremely slow even considering Fiji time. We met a man who brings a group of teens to the hotel every year for at least a month. The facility was perfect for their needs.

“Great for those who want to see more than the beach”

I had a great stay at the Crow's Nest. Previously I had spent 5 days on an island resort, where you are confined to beach activities all day long. If you grow tired of that lifestyle, I recommend a place like Crow's Nest. I spent my days here taking leisurely meals at the pool bar, chatting with the staff. I walked into town and met local people (and was even invited to dinner twice--I felt bad that I had to decline since I was leaving that afternoon). The nearby eco reserve was great, as they have terrific flowers and some interesting animals. I also did a little shopping. My room was great--3 beds all to myself for a reasonable price. It was spotless and I have no complaints.

“Could find better”

I stayed at the crows nest after a friend recommended it. I've been to Fiji quite a few times and I've stayed in various types of places from 5 star to back packer.

The Crows Nest provides basic accommodation. The self catered rooms are very basic and do not really allow for guests to prepare their own meals. Fridge is too small and utensils for cooking are not provided.

I was annoyed that unless I requested my room to be cleaned, it wasn't. The reception called every morning between 7.00am - 8.00am which drove me crazy because I was either trying to sleep in or already out doing an activity so my room rarely got cleaned. I also got into trouble for not answering my phone to which I was very cranky and explained I was on HOLIDAYS and they should just assume I want my room done everyday.

When towels were changed, they were dirty with stains / blood on them. GROSS.

Their website was wrong. They said they had internet - THEY DO NOT
They said they had snorkelling gear - THEY DO NOT
There were quite a few examples of this that we experienced.

And everything comes at a cost - you have to pay for towels etc which I thought was very unfair especially as no other resorts / places do this.

The management REALLY LET THIS PLACE DOWN. They were rude, unhelpful and annoying and did not do anything to help make our stay an enjoyable one.

The restaurant was okay. Food was expensive for what you got and the kitchen could not provide things that were on the menu. It was suck it and see as to whether we got what we ordered. They didn't tell us when they ran out of things, they just changed what we ordered then charged more. Food was okay though. Not a lot of variety.

The positives are the location - it's close to town. There was one employee who was FANTASTIC. Her name is Casey. The rest were rude and unhelpful.

The place has such potential if it had better management and employees (except Casey).

“Relaxing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2010

It's a good place to relax but the food needs improvement. Firstly they don't serve pork, the room we stayed had no AC. When we order for dinner the cook tells us to order something simple to make. They are shoert staffed as we had to wait nearly and hour for our dinner. The local staff are very friendly and nice. In my view I think that it's good for locals not tourists.

“Average resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2008

A belated review of the supposedly 'new' crows nest resort..

I stayed here in May with my Mum, Aunty and Cousin in a deluxe villa.

Unfortunately the stay was quite disappointing. The rooms were very dirty - the bathroom was disgusting, there was a used tissue in the corner of the room from the day we arrived to when we left and on half of the nights we were there, we had no hot water. Whilst I realise this is budget accommodation I would expect the standards of cleaning to be a lot higher. The sheets and bed covers were also stained which was a bit disgusting.

We were also overcharged for the transport from the airport (as quoted by the resort in writing but i didnt have it with me at the time) - which i had an argument with the man who checked us out with. Also, the transfer from the airport was late and the van they collected us in was very dirty and smelly and had exhaust fumes coming through the back window.

Food at the restaurant on the first night was ok, but we were starving having not eaten all day (so I'm guessing anything would have tasted good).. After that dining at the restaurant was very disappointing. One night my aunty and cousin asked for a butter chicken (indian curry) and instead received battered chicken.. we had a laugh about it and nicknamed it fiji's KFC, and it was a miscommunication more than anything. The other chicken curries we had were disappointing with the bits of chicken being I guess more traditional?? They consisted of lots of bones and chicken necks..

On the positive side, they did have an excellent view from the room and after I emailed my complaints on my return they did offer two nights free accommodation on our next visit, no doubt we will not be taking it up. We checked out the Bedarra Inn just up the road on our last day and that looked a lot cleaner and nicer.. if you're heading that way and looking for cheaper accommodation I'd recommend staying there.
